suppose go on holiday to get away from every day life so all some people want to do is be able to spend all day lying out in the sun doing nothing because thats exactly what they can't do at home.
As for going lobster colour that is just stupidity but then some people are just plain stupid

That's what some people enjoy, others like to go sight seeing, some like to drink all day, it's individual taste. I live on Greek Island and it's over 40 degrees today, it's too hot to breathe let alone lie in he sun, I think they are all mental on the beach to be honest!! Each to their own I suppose, but I agree that the leather look isn't attractive!!! I'm really pale and get sick of people asking me "why are you so white if you live on a Greek Island?" well the answer to that is, when you live here you don't have time to lie in the sun all day, i have better things to do!!!

I think it's because people tend to have no sense of moderation whatsoever. They can't have just one or two cocktails, they have to get so drunk they puke on someone's front lawn at the end. They can't just eat one cookie- they have to gorge themselves on the whole box. And if they go out sunning, they can't just hang out on the beach for two hours- they have to spend all day in the sun and get burnt to a crisp!!!! Also I think it's because they feel like they're on vacation and they need to relax by the beach ALL DAY in order to feel like they really rested. That's all I can think of.

Laying about on the beach is such a waste of time. Recently I went to Spain with friends. We did the beach thing for one day and spent the rest of the week visiting villages and exploring palaces and cathedrals.
It was fantastic.

Different people enjoy different things. I like to tour about and explore the area, others like to sunbathe on a beach. I am not a sunbather or beacher myself.

I know it seems bizarre to spend so much on a holiday and not actually see anything except the floor or the sky!
There is still too much emphasis on "getting a tan" despite the education on skin cancer, sun damage and premature aging.

It's relaxing and very therapeutic! When you work 9am-5pm everyday, 7 days a week for six months, a two week holiday with the sun shining is pure bliss! It's funny how you appreciate doing absolutely nothing...

I asked my skin surgen the same question his answer was quite clear " To keep him in business" Without these *** holes frying in the sun they would be without an income.
