I'd recommend sitting down and making a list of everything you would like to see and do. Write next to each one which country the place is in and then try to narrow it down to only five or six. I would then recommend popping into STA Travel and having a talk with one of their advisors. Everyone who works there has travelled and can offer you advice. I'd also check out the website www.gapyear.com which has a free downloadable "round the world" planner. You can also ask for more advice from their live message board.
If you go to the library, try and pick up "Before You Go" or "The Virgin Travellers Handbook" by Tom Grifiths. Both are really informative.
Finally, if you need anymore advice, give these sites a try. They are all about travelling and will really help you get a feel for the places involved. Hope this helps, have a great time!!!!

A lot of people do the tourist round the world ticket: Singapore, Thailand, Oz, New Zealand, US the home, when i went the places i found the best were off the beaten track, especially Vietnam amazing! If your thinking of back packing the this web page is really good at putting you in touch with people who live in the country your going to, so you can check out some places that you wouldn't get in holiday packages. Travelling was the best thing i ever did, i hope you have a good time! http://www.travbuddy.com/

Important considerations:
-How much time do you have?
-How much money do you have?
-How much comfort do you require?
I recently traveled through Argentina, Chile, Uruguay, Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador, Panama, and Costa Rica.
Here is my list of highlights:
- Argentina: Buenos Aires, Ushuaia (an "ea$y hop" to Antarctica from there), Bariloche, Perito Moreno Glacier
- Chile: Valparaiso, Torres del Paine
- Bolivia: Salare de Uyuni (~$100USD for an all inclusive 4-day tour, not to be missed), Potosi, La Paz
- Peru: Huacachina, Macchu Picchu (may as well go if you're there), Northern beach towns
- Ecuador: the equator, Quito
- Panama: crossing the Panama Canal
- Costa Rica: mreh... I wasn't too impressed.
I hear OneWorld offers good deals on RTW trips. http://www.oneworld.com

To Mars, then it is easy to see the world. Just look at a map of the world and choose the places that make you want to go there.
Or you can give me the ticket and I will go where I want to.

Most people either go east or west. Be different and go polar! North to south would be really cool! Don't forget to take lots of pictures!
