To be honest with you, Americans & Europians have more clear understanding what Islam is all about than you realize.
And more directly, the Christian Americans & Europians understand what Islam is all about more than others who aren't born again.

How can it be wrong or right?
American and European people are largely Christian because of tradition and history. It is not like Americans and Europeans sit around and tell each other that we all have to keep "misunderstanding" Islam.
It is all a matter of where you live in the world.
And here is the other problem. As an American, I respect Islam and do not think all Muslims are like the extremists who attacked my country on 9/11.
If Muslims want to be more understood by American and Europeans, they need to first STOP the brutality people of their own faith are committing not only in the USA and European Countries, but around the world.
If you want Muslims to be better understood, then why not take Osama Bin Laden's Islam standing away? Excommunicate him and all Al Qada from all Islam.
Do you think we want to understand when extremists from your faith killed over 3.000 of our innocent people? Not likely.
Worry about fixing all of the problems in the nations that are Islamic by rule and culture, then come to the rest of us and ask for understanding. Get that jackal out of Iran. Get Iraq militants under control. Stop Hammas. Make peace in your own part of the world before asking for understanding.
Sorry to rant, but you did ask.

Wrong or right it's there and it would be a good idea for all people of that faith to do things that negate the negativity that the press/media/government love to pile upon the religion.
Recently three men were arrested near where I live. They were immediately identified in the paper as "three Muslims". I can not ever recall seeing "three Christians" being arrested. They surely have been but are not identified in the papers as such.

It's never right to have a misunderstanding. The question is - do they have a misunderstanding about Islam. I suspect that many of them know all they need to know about Islam.

It depends on what you mean by misunderstanding.
It's just another religion. It has followers that range from relatively peaceful people to violent, hate-filled fanatics - just like most other religions. It makes claims it cannot prove, just like other religions.
What more is there to understand?

I think it would be better if you reviewed your questions with your English teacher before you posted them. This one is basically unanswerable.
