I think a better name is the first one: we were called followers of The Way before we were called Christians. See Acts 9:2.
Or perhaps Yeshuaians would be interesting ...

Jesus is His name, and Christ identifies who He is. Christ means Messiah. The name "Christian", does mean, followers of Jesus, but unfortunately not all who call themselves Christians, follow Jesus.

"J'shua ben Josephites"
How's that? Better?
"Christian" simply means "Messiah-followers,"
acknowledging Jesus as the Christ.

Christian, (Christ-like one), is a term that is God-originated. It is because God sees Christ when He sees us. It was His deliberate decision. He chose to do this for Christ's sake, and because of what His Son did. It is not an indication of how righteous we are. God DECLARES us righteous, once again, for Christ's sake. The term "Christian" is appropriate from God's perspective. His perspective is the only one that matters.

Christ is Greek for "Messiah." In their language, they were Messianiac Jews, which became "Christian Jews" when translated. They in turn dropped the Jewish reference, as they came to believe that they Jews had ignored their savior, and most of the people they converted were pagans and other gentiles.

Take it up with the Pagans of the time. They are the ones that started using the term. We just coopted it. 'Little Christs' seemed to be quite appropriate, as that IS our goal.
