Sunburn is not good for tattoos. Sunburn is not good for any skin. If it is a freshly applied tattoo, you run the risk of poor healing. I am sure you were advised to stay out of the sun.
The sun degrades the ink. If you look at a tattoo that has been under clothing the same amount of time as one on an arm exposed daily to sun, you will see a huge difference in the quality.

yes sunburn around tattoo is really a symptom meaning your skin is getting more susceptible to infetion. Tattoo dyes that are used contain harmful chemicals. But as you already have one. Don't panic, goto a skin specialist to get answered and cured better. Or just try this :
Turmeric powder is available in the market easily. just to a cup of wheat flour add two teaspoon full of turmeric powder and 4 spoonfull of water and churn the mixture so that it mixes properly to form a paste, aply on the affected area and let air on it. It would relieve you from sunburn and also protect you tattoo art. Don't ever you tattoo your skin. Your body is not a toy or wall to decorate, its more beautiful naturally. be in nature.
