Do they even try?

The attitudes toward atheists that get expressed here show a complete inability, or lack of willingness to see things from someone else's point of view.

Are they completely incapable of empathy?

If not, why can't they see that most atheists are moral people, living fullfilling lives and trying to contribute to making the world a better place?

The irony is, most atheists seem to have a really good handle on how christians think in here.

I gotta ask why Atheists are even here??? I mean that U all claim to be Atheist & after all, this is a place to discuss God & Religious Beliefs isn't it, U know "R&S"??? Can U tell Us exactly Why Atheists are here, please??? As far as "Christians" not being able to Understand "Atheists", U could say that about many Peoples, such as Women, "He just doesn't Understand me!", or U call into one of those "Off Shore" Company "Help Lines" where after repeating Urself 100 times about the "Problem" U are having, U could conclude "They just don't Understand me!" I'm Hoping right now that U will Understand what I'm saying to U, but as U are from a "Totally Different Mindset" as the Examples I just gave, U Cannot Possibly Understand Fully what I am saying, as U have not the Same "Frame of Reference" as do I. Does that make U a "Bad Person", No! That is to say that U simply don't speak & Understand the "Language" or share the Personal Relationship with Christ that "Christians" do. So Until U do, again I ask, Why are U here??? In our Belief, I can answer this question from Our Scriptures that say God has written the Knowledge of Him (God) on the Hearts of All Men / Women. Jer. 31:33 Christians, according to the Atheist Posts here, Must have Great Empathy for Un-Believers, as Atheists are Always Complaining about being Tired of the "Conversion Efforts" of Christians here. That tells me that they Do Not want their fellow Man / Woman to be Ignorant of God & His Plan for All Mankind!!! So once again I ask Why are U here after hearing more than once the Plan of God??? Is there something Still Missing in Ur Life & U think U may Find it here??? I guess U will never know for sure Until U give God the Nod!!! John

It is not just christians that do that, pretty much every religion (or belive) says that you are going to their version of hell if you do not believe what we belief. The muslims believe that if you do not side with them, that you should be killed and if they kill a non muslim, they are doing "gods work". I had a boyfriend once that was athiest, he said that I was "living in the dark" and "didn't know what the truth was", pretty much told me I was wrong many times (when I was just stating my religion and my belief in God, not saying that my way was the only way because I do not think that is correct), any time I would say I believed in God, he would start up a debate and tell me how wrong I was. Just because I am christian and believe in God does not mean I think anyone who is not is a bad person (although I do know many that do think that way). Although I am a christian, I do believe that everyone is entitled to their own beliefs without being judged, this is a free country after all. I do not think that it is right for anybody to be attacked, judged or put down for believing the way they do. I have known many people that were not christians who had the biggest hearts of anyone I have ever known. If you really think that christins lack empathy then you have not been around the right people. The chrisian faith is based on love and forgiveness (although some christians don't see that). The fact of the matter is that Christianity is based on faith, believing in something that you can't see which is hard for some people to grasp. Regardless, no body really even knows what is correct until we do.

It's not that we don't understand how others think, no one is born a christian, no one lives in a bubble, free from confusion, stupidity or mistakes. No one makes a commitment to there beliefs on an impulse including you. Atheists like yourself seek justification in your action and beliefs, or lack of beliefs the same as everyone else. Why else would you, and your brothers in thought continually use the religion and spirituality sections when perhaps the science and or something else might be more appropriate. I'll tell you why, because your hoping for more yourself, your looking for that old question. Is this all there is, is there nothing more? Your hoping there is, and there is, just keep looking.
I hope you find the truth, for there is only one truth, and each person has to find it for themselves.

I am capable of seeing other view points but it remains my point of view that I am still correct. I can look at any new theory or discussion that you want to use and rexamine my viewpoint but the way things are going I am still going to be a Christian.

Christians are some of the most empathetic people you will find because all of them have struggled and continue to struggle with issues that threaten their faith. In the collective body of Christian believers just about evry issue has been dealt with and an answer found.

I can understand atheists being moral, but morality is not the point. The point is to become closer to perfection and live up to our birthright. Some people believe that they lead fulfilling lives but most of the time it could be more so, and how do they know that their lives are being lived to the fullest.

I have seen more atheists on here try to tear down Christians and say how stupid and ignorant we are than the other way around.

Most are certainly not trying to contribute to meaningful religious discussion in this section. I understand how atheists think because I was one a few months ago. I have empathy but there's only so much we can handle before we get frustrated with atheists when every other question or answer mocks and ridicules us and our beliefs. The religious are outnumbered here and this is the RELIGION section. Maybe YA will make an evolution section, or a "Christians are stupid" section. Until then

That is not true.

I respect different point of views. Of course I believe that I follow the truth, Jesus, but I think it is interesting to know why people do not follow Him. I learn. It has made my faith only stronger. And I ma so happy I have my faith because it seems to be so hard for some people to have it.

Well, you just seem to think that you Atheists have it better " together' over all. I think that last sentence is even a put down, but that is OK.

Because, the whole Christian thing makes these "Christians" feel that theirs is the only way to live life. My mother raised me as a Christian, between going to Christian school and church on Sunday, and Sunday night and Wednesday night and youth groups and choir practices etc etc... they never EVER stop feeding it to you.

I just got bombarded by a pastor’s wife 2 days ago. She said "you must believe in something" I told her I didn't have time and it didn't matter. So she asked "Well what created you?" I replied "The blizzard of '78" (no joke) and she couldn't believe I said that. Then she said, "Well who turned on your lights?" I said "Dr. Ferracci". Well she was just speechless.

She told me that I HAD to believe in something. I said I really didn't. I'm here, that's that. Whether I'm from Adam, a monkey, a meteor, or a peatry dish... it was really irrelevant to me. I work, I play, I live- so what do I care.

So Christians just hang on to their notions and want everyone else to do the same. In their minds there is NO OTHER WAY!!

And it really is ALL they think about and talk about, they will tell anyone who listens. They will be certain to tell you that YOU are wrong no matter what YOU believe if you don’t believe what they believe. Just tell them to stop preaching… and they usually quit because only the “Pastor” or “Preacher” of their church can actually “Preach” and they don’t want to be “blastfamous” hahahaha. Or tell them to go beat someone else with their Bible, they don’t like that either.

So like I told the pastor’s wife, if I do end up in their "Hell" then I’ll go- “Whoops!” and at least I'll see all of my friends for the rest of eternity.

If the Christians actually read the Bible.. They would understand. I mean, if they're a woman and read the bible and still are a Christain, they are stupid and take faith as the way of life. So the females better stfu and sit down, because it's the mans world.. Wait, that's sexist!
Also, it promotes SLAVERY and the beatings. That's bad, right? Oh wait, they had to put out the modern day Bible because they so happen to change their minds? WTF? You think women are just there to make babies and have slaves etc, but now, you change your mind? WTF is this BS...

The thing is, they can not think... Nothing else to say. I read the bible, and it was disgusting and wrong.

Also, by looking above, the religious people get mad over nothing quickly because? We DENIE THE THE HOLY SPIRIT? WE SHOULD DIE..? Is that right? We're so sinful

Okay so your discrmininating a religious group? CHECK
Your making out each and every Christian is dumb.CHECK
Your telling us that Christians think athiests dont help charity? wait your so wrong there: Christian Aid,Caford, St Vincent De Paul etc are all charitys who try and make the world a better palce, and so many athiests do contribute to them, my donatiosn on websites, if I know this then your statistics are incorrect because you said 'WHY CANT THEY SEE THAT MOST ATHIESTS'

Excuse me, if you say 'most' then you gotta see that most christians are also law abiding kind loving people, your just picking on them because they have a religon.

At the end of the day, you have to see it like this we are all people yeh? so why is it you have to pick out and be so annalytical to a group of people who beleive in Christ.

Christians can also see through athiests mind thats why, my dearest, they write 'athiests dont bother writing' becauser they no straight away athiests are going to say something not relevant.

Get over it. your so wrong.

actually I've never met an atheist in real life, so I could argue that they don't exist (small joke). However, if I did meet one I'm sure I'd have the same empathy I'd have for everyone else, basically let them be unless they ask me for a favor. So, I guess the question is, why are you making a point to generalize the entire christian community when you don't wish them to generalize yours????
