Since NAME is not plural. And against the doctrines of the Bible. Everybody baptised in the Bible was baptised " in the name of Jesus." In accordance with the doctrine laid out in Acts 2:38. I'm a father. I have a son. I have the Holy Ghost. So who are you baptising them unto? ME. Or 1 of my brothers in Christ. Show me 1 person in the bible baptised, father, son and Holy Ghost. AND I'LL JOIN THE ATHEISTS, If they will have me. They seem to be a pickie bunch.

So your interputation is wrong?? Did the diciples knowingly disobey Jesus? Or do you think they just got it wrong? And you got it right?

1saintofGod. You are exactly wrong. There is no trinity because JESUS Has to be " The name, of the father, and of the son, and of the Holy Ghost" destroying the trinity believe. Look at how the disiples baptised. They know more than anyone living today.

Francine-Trinity is the believe that God is made up of 3 co-existint " PERSONS" 1 called father,1called son, 1 called Holy Ghost. All knowing, all powerful. All agreeing as 1. It was started by the Catholic Church. By a man that wanted to be Emporor.

Catholic baptize in accordance to the command of Jesus Christ in Matthew 28:19-20:
"Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you."
Catholics baptize using the words, "[Name], I baptize you in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit."
The Catholic Church accepts any baptism from other Christian Church if it was done in this manner.
Your claim that everybody baptised in the Bible was baptised in the name of Jesus is incorrect. John the Baptist did not baptize in the name of Jesus.
With love in Christ.

Hi Ham....Very interesting question and this is up for controversy...and debate...lol.I was baptized as a Methodist and when the minister used the statement "In the name of Our Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost" I now baptize you in Christ. Now in my view or opinion on this is that Jesus was baptized by John in the water, now I'm not sure when the sprinkling of the water originated on the forehead but to me that isn't being baptized according to the Bible. Now according to some scholars that the earliest Jewish Christians in Jerusalem under the leadership of James the "brother" of Jesus and in the period immediately after the Crucifixion of Our Christ before the arrival of Paul they may not have been considered Christians by today's standards because this group did not believe in the Trinity, the deity of Jesus, salvation by grace or the virgin birth. Now todays Christians believe in the Trinity, the authority of Scripture, that man is a physical and spiritual being adversely by sin, Christ is fully God and fully man who was sent to save humanity, and the church is God's ordained institution headed by Christ. Now how I look at the Trinity is Our Father, His son Jesus Christ and the Holy Ghost. Now some Christians believe that God the Father and the son are one of the same. I don't see it that way. I believe that Our Father is one spirit and Jesus is His son born of Mary and the Holy Ghost is the spirit within us that sole believe in God the Father. Now my interpretation may be wrong to some but it's what I believe. God is the Alpha and the Omega the First and the Last. To me, God felt that He needed someone on earth to explain His laws and to save mankind from sin but He couldn't do it in Spritual form so He created His son born of Mary to comeforth and bring His laws in human form. Now when John baptized Jesus I don't believe he used those exact words when he cleansed and baptized Jesus.Of course Jesus to me didn't need to be cleansed or baptized since He was pure from sin and in a sense was God since He was God's son. I'm still confused on what or who is the Holy Ghost. This is what puzzles me. I see your point to your question and I really do hope you get the right answer or at least one that makes sense. Have a blessed day!

You're right. What about now when they do baptise in the name of the Father, son, and Holy Ghost? When Jesus ascended, why couldn't they be separate and together all at once? They are all within, and without. Together, but separate. Think about it. God is hard to understand, but quite capable of doing what I suggest.
Blessed Be

You need to go back to school and study English again. it is stated in what use to be called a plural singularity.
Aside from that if you study the scriptures carefully you will see that, as opposed to the belief of some, the name of God is not Jesus and the name of the Holy Spirit is not Jesus. All three are God. Yes they are separate, yet at the same time, they are all God.
You must remember also that God is infinite and we are finite creatures and will not be able to understand God; how he can be this way.

Well, Jesus said to do so, so it might be a good idea.
Mat 28:18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. 19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
Or do you think he was wrong about that?
UPDATE:
You are the one implying that either one manner of baptism or the other is wrong. That's why the onus is on you to explain which. Personally, I think the disciples actions can be reconciled with Jesus's command.

No, it is not against the Bible. Jesus commanded it.
"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit." (Matthew 28:19.)

how can any one say which is truly correct? there you have it again ppl separating because of there beliefs. as far as the Trinity why wouldnt you believe when John 1 it says "in the beginning was the word and the word was with God and the word was God." the only entrance on earth is through birth and the only exit is death. or is that not true?

You are being rather selective in your argument. We baptize in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, because Jesus TOLD us to.
"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit." (Matthew 28:19.)
