When others are going through the process of entering and staying in this country leagally, why should ILLEGAL immigrants expect to just have citizenship handed over to them?

Ok... Let me add to this before the time runs out.

I'm not just talking about the so-called Amnesty Bill here. I'm talking about the mind set that many have about coming into this country without going through the legal process and expecting to be given the rights of a legal citizen. Jobs, drivers license, medical benefits... When others ARE going through the process, and putting in the effort. No... It's not easy, but does that mean the process should be skipped all together?

Those who enter illegally should be treated the same as any American citizen who illegally enters any other country. Arrest and deportation is the only solution to illegal entry into any country. Part of the problem is many people of Mexico have never accepted to loss of Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and California to the United States and still consider them a part of Mexico. Another part is all the companys who pay for the coyotes to bring in workers illegally so they can hire cheap labor and not have to pay any of the taxes that are required if they hire an American or a legal immigrant.
So the companys need to be punished as severly for bringing them in as the illegals are for entering illegally.
The current laws on the books should be strictly enforced before any new reforms are passed by congress.

They would not be given citizenship. Having gone through the process myself, I can only say that the admin. uses the kind of words that make me wonder if they even know the procedure. If this bill happens, they would be first given a status, they'd have to then apply for a resident card, (green card), and after waiting for the necessary period (usually 5 years), they'd be THEN eligible to apply for citizenship. The citizenship is not given to anyone - not even those of us who came here legally. You have to take a medical, + show tax records, take a test. So, just take the words you hear on TV with a grain of salt.

They shouldn't. They should be sent back to their country of origin and come in through this country the right way. The only reason politicians are fighting so hard for it is they will lose their slave...err...cheap...err...employees and they will actually have to pay for services and realize that the value of a dollar won't allow them to pay for their luxury items. They'll also realize that the poor (black, white, asian, etc) in this country need help too and actually have to hire them at a decent wage.

They shouldn't. If we didn't have so many empty suits in Washington, they'd have all been rounded up and deported and a giant wall would have been built along the border long ago. The illegal alien criminals should be deported, and George W. Bush and Ted Kennedy should go with them.

They shouldn't. Plain and simple. If they really want to be in this country, they would take years and dedication, like others do, to try to LEGALLY get in.
