If 1/6 of humans claim to be Christian (excluding those idolatrous Catholics of course), and only a fraction of those are "real" Christians... God has a pretty crappy batting average.

I don't think anyone knows.

I do know that it does not make sense to convert to being a JW since they teach only 144,000 are going to heaven the there are lots more than 144,000 JW's already.

According to George Barna, who does telephone surveys in the USA sort of like George Gallop, about 45% of the US population are real Christians based on the Bible's definition of what a Christian is.

Here are their stats by year for the past few years:

2006 - 45% 2005- 40% 2004-38% 2002-40% 2001- 41% 2000- 41% 1999- 40% 1998- 39% 1997- 43% 1996-39% 1995-35% 1994- 36% 1993-36% 1992- 40% 1991- 35%

The last time I looked at the statistics online, there are aprox. over 8 billion people in the world. And just a little over 3 billion are Christians. So that's aprox. 5 billion who supposedly will burn for eternity. I have to wonder,....How does that make Christ victorious?? The Bible teaches that He(Christ) defeated Satan.

about 1/3 of the World pop. is Christian. Unless you're a protestant, and you dont' consider the 1.1 billion Catholics as christian. Then it is less than 1/6.

I don't think anyone knows that. There is no way that anyone could know exactly how many are true Christians and try to live as Christians and obey His word. That is something God knows, not human. We will have to wait and see, but there will definitely be more who turn to true Christianity before it is all over, they will be begging.

If you ask the Jehovah's Witnesses, they tell you that only 144000 people are going to heaven. Well, there are millions of people in the U.S. so we're screwed unless we convert to the Jehovah's Witness religion.

Many are called....few are chosen....

I'd say just a few million

There are approximately 6 billion people on the planet......If only a few million are true born again believers.....then that's still a pretty large amount.

Everyone. To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. Heaven is that location where God is. When we die we are all sent to Heaven. Who remains and who doesn't is another matter; but all get there initially.
