Our worship should be centered around God's model.....and not ours.
Alot of religions out there have it just the opposite....

All religion is the product of mankind's attempts, to explain the unknown in an age without science.
2000 years ago, virtually every destructive natural event was considered the direct result of an angry god. Earthquakes, tsunami's, typhoons, tornado's(the finger of god), solar and lunar eclipses, lightning, drought, poor agriculture yeilds, diseases, locust infestations.....anything we didn't understand was blamed on god(s). We know now that tsunami's are created by earthquakes deep in the ocean, which are caused by techtonic plates shifting. We know that tornado's are caused by cold an hot air / low pressure systems. Typhoon's are seasonal in Asia, as are Hurricanes in the Pacific/Atlantic/Carribean. Even today we still have people who blamed hurricane Katrina on God....and anytime something bad happens to someone...they say "WHY GOD, WHY YOU DO THIS TO ME !!???". The fact is, we live on a small fragile and chaotic rock. Whatever happens on this swirling waterfilled planet is just plain luck..good or bad...it's just luck. Bad things happen to good people all the time, and visa versa...I don't believe "God" has anything to do with that.
To answer your question directly now....WE need religion to give us the answers to questions, that science cannot yet explain, or may never be able to explain. We need a supernatural explaination for anything that we cannot explain by nature.
Often a supernatural explanation seems to be the only rational explanation for things that are considered un-natural...Spontaneous human cumbustion, a crying Jesus statue, phsycic phenomena, strange lights in the sky, faith healing, ghosts, or anything that we think is just too cooincidental to be an accident/luck...etc.
We need these answers for confort, but not survival.

True religion is not so much about needs but about the Truth. What is true? I am a Christian. There are things about Christianity that I may not particularly find delightful (self-sacrifice for others instead of thinking about myself first for instance), but I accept them because I believe the core of Christianity - the atoning work of Christ - is true. Christianity teaches that our greatest need is forgiveness of sins, and that Christ has made that possible without any merit on our part to earn or deserve such a treasure. What God demands from us is two-fold: One, that we must be holy (we aren't, thus Christ) and two, that we surrender to Him and receive Christ in faith. Our relationship with God is then restored. Our need is filled, and God's demands are met.

It's about what religion needs.
Religion is a type of parasite on society. It's an organization that collectively thrives on emotional manipulation of its converts. Except in rare cases, such as Falwell and Robertson, I don't think the individual really has much effect on religion. I think the converts are victims that then foist the religion onto new converts. Humans have been emotional animals far longer than rational ones, so this type of emotional mind play feeds on itself. Facts just don't get through and converts are discouraged from honestly looking at the facts.
It certainly isn't about God, because God is just a superstition.

It's what WE need.
People don't like unknowns and unexplainables. So they created God as a means to answer those issues and to control the peasants.
If religion was truly about God, why is the offering plate shoved in your face AFTER they get your emotions all worked up instead of just putting a box in the foyer?

I would agree with you, completely.
"Religion", from a Christian standpoint, is about having a right and intimate relationship with God, through Jesus Christ. As you alluded to, we need to make our lifestyles fit into God's agenda, not the other way.
This is only possible when we trust in Jesus Christ for our Salvation. Without Him, all of life is vanity.

Religion is a man made thing of man trying to tell God what he will or will not do. Whereas Christianity is a relationship between man and God

None, religion is taught by man and all it's man made doctrines and god did not order us into any religion, his son said one day to a man along side a road way when he asked Christ what must i do to get saved, and Jesus answered him saying believe in me and you will be saved. No religion mentioned!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Or maybe it's what God NEEDS? Why doens't anyone look at it from His point of view? Maybe He needs something from us? Mind you he can exist without us but it doens't cancel out the possibility that He put us here for a reason... it's not like we needed to be here for Him to exist. So... i dunno? Anything is possible.
