I can't make any sense of this sentence. Could you translate it for me? What's the subject of the sentence? Is it Pfadfinder? Is that plural? Why" der jungen" - is that dativ or genetiv then? I totally don't get it :(

The meeting of the young scouts. Or The young scouts meeting.

(Das) Treffen - Subject

die jungen Pfadfinder - the young scouts -Plural
der junge Pfadfinder - singular masculine
die junge Pfadfinderin - singular feminine

Genitiv - Wessen Treffen? Das der jungen Pfadfinder.

sich treffen - to meet as verb
das Treffen - the meeting as a noun

Well,

Treffen der jungen Pfadfinder means
The meeting of the young scouts. (boy scouts i believe)

I am not that good with deciphering what the subject is and all that technical stuff, but it's either Treffen (to meet) or Pfadfinder (scouts).

Pfadfinder is both plural and singular, depends how you use it.

Yes, 'der' is used (at least one of the reasons without getting too complicated) is because Pfadfinder is masculine (hence me thinking its the equivilant Boy scouts)

As a general rule, with exceptions of course, Der is masucline, Die is feminine, and Das is for inanimate objects.

hope this helps!

It is not a sentence.
"Pfadfinder" can be singular or plural, in this case "der jungen Pfadfinder" (= "of the young scouts") is a genitive plural.
"Treffen" ("meeting" in this case) also has no separate plural form
The whole term means simply
"Meeting(s) of the young (boy) scouts."
In Germany you have male and female "Pfadfinder".

In English it is: "(The) meeting of the young Pathfinders" Pathfinders is a literal translation.... "Scouts" would be more fitting like boy scouts, girl scouts.

It is plural. Der jungen = young and in this case is nominative.
