I am doing a debate on why women shouldn't be drafted on I can't think of any good arguing points. The basic one is that the mom has to stay home and take care of the kids, but that's all i"ve got!!

I'm for the draft and I have been put on the side that is against it and I have no good facts to support this argument , I need examples and stuff.I read the answers that some of ya'll left and I don't believe that it considered sexiest. Explain it. If you look in the past women have always wanted to be equal to men and we have in some areas, but when it comes down to this everyone is all of a sudden against it. It confuses me. Why not let them get drafted to. There are plenty of men who don't want to go but they have to because of the draft. It all turns back to right and wrong . I mean what can you do!

I don't think *anyone* should be drafted, but if there was a draft I can't think of any reason women should be exempt. Mom having to stay home and take care of kids isn't that great of a reason in my opinion....dad's can take care of their kids, too.

Let me give you a case of women in a danger zone.
I served as a prison guard in Desert Storm. One night we had a riot and had to go to the area where the prisoners were rioting and stand by for possible action.
There was a young lady in my squad. Between myself and the other guys in the squad- as well as the rest of the platoon- she would have been surrounded at all times by us and we would have been in more danger than if she were another guy.
there were also other females in the unit, and there platoons treated them the same way.
Another case- I served in Ramadi Iraq last year with a line company. We picked up three female medics. Not one of them was able to handle the firefights. They had to be constantly directed while under fire just to do there job.
Now, while some women could indeed handle the firefights, and some of the guys were pretty worthless out there, it's a matter of culture here in the US. Our women are not raised with war like Israel and other nations where women are part of the norm for military duty, so both the women and the men act the way we have been taught.

I'll try to help you. You can cuss me if you think im wrong. In thinking about what would have to take place, in order to start drafting, and the loss of human life that would have to take place, one could argue that in order to keep the population levels going, then the bearers of children should be reserved for regrowth. If you drafted women (seeing how mating in theater is a violation of general order #1), the chances of re-population would be greatly affected. Not saying that women are just for reproducing, just saying they are the only ones that can carry babies. I hope this helps. At least inspiring thought.

If it were me, I would rethink my position and debate in favor of women being drafted. Currently, the only point you have is the weakest argument that has been presented as to why women should not be drafted.
In Isreal, there is compulsory service in the defense forces for ALL citizens, regardless of gender.
There is no reasonable or credible argument against women being drafted for the armed forces.

I can honeslty tell you there aren't any good points in my opinion. Dad's can be just as importain to a child as a mom. Women can hold their own in the military! I know many moms in the Army, my best friend is in Iraq right now while her husband is home with their 2 young daughters. She is with one of the most talked about units right now and she is handling everything better than some men. God bless all of our troops!

You could say that because women aren't really capable of civic duty they should relinquish their right to vote an therefore have no reason to be drafte.

well the main reason for not putting women into combat is because imagine what would happen to them if captured by enemy soldiers. that and the fact that physically they are not as strong is the reasons that the army and marines dont allow women in direct combat positions.

The draft isn't going to be used...
But that said, there is one reason to say that they can't: in my experience, having been in the US Army, I was told by my drill sergeants, and from personal friends that were female, that the stresses of BCT and combat can crack and damage the pelvis. That'd be the only reason I can think of.
