A really humble person admits to flaws out of a real recognition that there are better people out there and that the person has a real need for improvement. Real humility is the opposite of saying that one is better than others.

Fundamentalist humility differs because it's really false humility- it's still a claim to superiority. Fundamentalist humility says "I am flawed, but so are you, I'm no worse than anyone else, we are all equally guilty in the eyes of God." But integral to this "humility" is the message that the Fundamentalist is better for knowing the One True Faith and the Fundamentalist is going to Heaven while anyone who disagrees is damned by God to Hell. God, who is all knowing, likes the fundamentalist better than all those who disagree with the fundamentalist. That's hardly humble.

Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others. Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus (Philippians 2:3-5).
