to much sleeping?

my boyfriend sleeps for hours way more the eight he sleeps all day and most of the night like he just can't get enough sleep and when he does wake up he's really angry and grumpy all the time he wasn't always like this it just started a couple of months ago what could be happening?

is he on drugs? have him see a doctor for blood test like thyroid hormone level and etc

Although guys don't get it very often, he might want to be checked for anemia. Other ideas are narcolepsy or even sleep apnea. My boyfriend has sleep apnea and is causes irritability and an overall sense of fatigue and even depression. What it basically is is lack of oxygen during sleep (does he snore? does he dream?). He really should go to a doctor to check out what it could be. Anemia is very easy to treat, but sleep apnea can be very bad as it can lead to a heart attack or a stroke. Good luck to both of you!

Sleeping to much can give you headaches and make you more tired than you were when you went to bed. Try and keep him awake some. It could just be growing or a phase.

He should have his thyroid checked. This happened to me when I had hypothyroidism and didn't know it. He also could be depressed, and although more rare in men, he could be anemic. He needs to get some lab work done.

he could be under stress and he's getting too much sleep.
it happens to me. wake him up earlier!

a million things. if you don't trust it, go see a doctor. small things might be, lack of proper nutrition or lack of light perhaps?
