I think for the most part it is all right. While they do not always behave morally on soaps there are some characters who are redeeming.
I would love to write a Christian Soap. One where the core characters are based in Christian beliefs, but where they fail and fall and do things wrong just like all of us. One of the things that bugs me about Christians and the media is that when shows show Christians as human and fallible Christians get up set. I do not see why. After all "I am not perfect, just saved. My Savior now He is Perfect". we fall into the trap that Tack Tiger is trying to set, as Christians we seem to think we need to lead sinless lives which is of course impossible. Our great gift as Christians is that we have a Savior to run to when we fall.
A soap featuring Christians would still have all the stuff other soaps have: Moral conflict, crime, violence and sex, because that is the world we Christians live in. The difference of course would be that the core characters would try to be good Christians and that they would repent when they do wrong and have a relationship with God. Not every character would need to be a Christian because we do not live in a world where every one is a Christian.
I think that sometimes Christians are afraid to show ourselves as human as if that takes away from the Glory of God. But the fact that we are human adds to the Glory. If God can redeem ME (And I mean that literally because I am the biggest sinner walking) then he can redeem anyone and that is Awesome

I've watched General Hospital since '76 when I was three, mainly because my mom watched them. My daughter will probably be the same way. They may be cheesy at times, but they honestly aren't that bad. And as far as soaps go, GH is better written than most.

LOL why wouldn't it be? I personally don't watch them because they bore me... I could watch one "All My Children" today , and someone would have a baby... then next week when I turn it on that baby will have grown up and be attending college..with 5 kids at home, divorced 3 times...and have an alcohol issue...LOL..
I can't stand soap operas.
Have a great one!! =)

No I don't there is so much trash on the soaps. Everyone is sleeping wit everyone. The Bible says to dwell on things that are holy and pure etc. soaps aren't.

No, soap operas are pretty much just porn, deceit, greed, etc. They show the worst of humanity. If you feed yourself on that stuff, you'll get a twisted attitude. Not healthy.

We become ourselves like those we associate with........this includes what we put in our minds. Do we want to live like they portray life on those shows?? Our brain is somewhat like a computer, 'garbage in and garbage out' .... soap operas are trash these days. A Christian who walks with the Lord does not even desire to watch them.

When I was in college, I got really hooked on them. Tehy seem to be a lot "steamier" today, though. It's probably not the most productive way to spend your time.
