Humility is the virtue which acknowledges that all we have and all we accomplish is God's work not ours.
The opposite of humility is the sin of pride. Pride in yourself is undue self-esteem or self-love, which seeks attention and honor and sets oneself in competition with God.
Pride in things like your heritage, your nation, and your children are just being thankful for gifts from God. These are not the sin of pride.
With love in Christ.

What do you define modest as? Is this really a religious question or a GP (general purpose) question. When you say modest to you mean humble?
Have you ever read the Desiderada? Try reading that and you may find the answers you seek.

Being modest is not bragging about yourself and the things you do for others . Living a simple life and sharing your wealth with others . Giving from the heart and having no expectation put on others.

One could start on the oustide and continue to internalize those modest traits. If you dress very loosely then you could try dressing more conservatively. Staying within modest conversation instead of exposing every little detail about your personal life.

i hope this doesnt sound mean, but i'm a modest person i guess....and it's because i have low self-confidence, and i also don't believe i'm really that great, so when people tell me i did outstanding, or i'm really nice, or i did something really good, i don't really believe it, so i just say, "no, i'm not really that great" and also, i hate it when people brag, so i don't brag. when you brag, you are the opposite of modest.

By adopting love and tolerance as your code.
Tolerance
The most lovable quality any human being can possess is tolerance. ….
It is the vision that enables one to see things from another’s viewpoint….
It is the generosity that concedes to others the right to their own opinions and their own peculiarities…..
It is the bigness that enables us to let people be happy in their own way instead of our way.

Take a honest inventory of yourself. Find out what your actual abilities are. Find out what your defects are. Be that. Work on both your + and -. But be who you really are, not who you would really like to be.
