Great question!
My mom smokes and it bugs me sooo much. We have gotten in so many fights because of that. She has a really nasty cough and always smells like cigarettes so sometimes, I don't even want to stand next to her. In the car with her, I hold my breath alot. I just can't stand it. My dad doesn't like it either, so he paid me 105 dollars to never smoke and my brother, who was 15, 105 dollars to QUIT smoking!!! It needs to be illegal. We would all be healthier, live longer, and it would probably even bring families closer together.

Sure. Let's try that. Uh-oh. Now we've got an overworked police force trying to stop the use and importation of cigarettes as though they were weed. And then there are the smokers who are now junkies because they can't quit smoking. And they're criminals for buying them, and could be arrested for possession. Absurd. Let's cram our already overfilled jails with fine upstanding citizens that happen to smoke.
I would love to have a smoke-free world, and I'm very against smoking since my mom died 2 years ago of lung cancer. But outlawing it isn't the answer.
Education is the only tool we have left. We have to convince the children, especially those at risk, that smoking is not cool, smoking is dumb and addictive, etc., etc. My children would sooner jump off a bridge as smoke a cigarette. I wish all the kids were the same.
Luggage, I know it's hard, very hard, but you may add 20-30 years to your life by quitting. You'll meet your grandbabies, see your teenagers graduate, celebrate 100 family birthdays. Search everywhere, try everything, go to the end of the earth and find that one cure that works for you. I nursed my mom through the last 12 weeks of her life, and it was emotionally devastating. I beg you, quit today.

I think if we did, we'd have the same problems they had during Prohibition in the 1920's. There was complete lawlessness, with people brewing their own "bathtub gin," and going to "speakeasies" to drink illegally. It was said there were three types of people then--the wet, the dry, and the hypocrites. I think we'd just have the same thing.

I am a smoker and I say yes! It kills and it will kill me. I'm just glad that it's NOT addictive! If there weren't any in the first place then I wouldn't be where I am!!
I think banning is the only way to save the children....trouble is what happens if your caught then? Jail time for tobacco? That's a tough one.

Yes. I held my father while he died from lung cancer. When he started, the tobacco companies were actually saying that smoking was good for you!!! Anything so addictive and harmful would never pass the FDA today.

should we make alcohol illegal...it would save lives also, but they tried that once and it didn't work....you cannot legislate morality, and smoking is a habit, and it doesn't lead to weed and stuff......you have a better chance of trying other things by drinking...
