I cannot speak for all atheists. I can only tell you what motivates me.
I am an atheist/agnostic. I come here because, frankly, I have financial difficulties and the internet connection is free at the library and it gives me something to do with my time.
I lost all my money at Pascal's Casino. I wagered that there are no monkeys left because, I figured, evolution is true and thus there should be none.
You see, my ignorance cost me everything. So now I spend all my time learning religious truths from the expert theologians here.
If my history convinces just one person that the infidel path is the path to ruin, I have done my job.

I'm having a portable liver dialysis system put in my house. I expect Pascal to make a showing soon, and I'll need something to help my now failing liver process all the alcohol..
