Before it could start bleeding I superglued it closed. This was six weeks ago, I thought it would be fine but I still have a pain in the knuckle and it hurts like a bruise would. Any ideas on what I did?

Dude! Normal superglue is not designed for sealing up cuts.
That is a special 'superglue' made especially for medicine.

Your knuckle is proberly hurting from the superglue in the cut and if an infection or germs got in there is no way to let them out.

Soak your hand in warm water for a very long time. An hour to start with, to disolve the superglue. If it's still there after an hour, then back into the water.
I would say once the superglue has gone your thumb will feel so much better.

If the superglue will not disolve then you will need to go to the Doctor, but he will tell you to soak your hand as water is the only way to disolve, eventually, the glue.

I do silly things like this all the time. I hope my son dosn't follow in my footsteps.

superglue was not designed for cuts!!! this is often a misconception due to the dermabond glue used in hospitals.

the dermabond is a special glue designed to dissolve once the wound is healed-regular superglue is not.

in addition-regular superglue can trap germs inside the cut causing major infection.

i would make an appt to see your dr-you could have bruised the bone which can take several months to heal.

but talk to your dr to rule out any other serious condition

That's hysterical. I love the way you reacted so quickly. Knuckles, esp thumbs, seem to take forever to heal. Give it more time.

you shouldn't of done it, because of the chemicals in there, it probably, maybe could've gotten infected, If i were you I would have but a bandage over it and go to the doctor,,,thats what I would do..

That wasn't the smartest thing to do. Go to the doctor.
