Good for you! Contact the American Cancer Society in your area and I know they always need volunteers. When my Mom had cancer, I would take her to her chemo treatments and across the hall I could see the precious bald children, doing artwork while they got their chemo treatments. I'm sure even your local hospital could use volunteers in the children's ward. Another very sad place where they need people who care are the nursing homes. So many of the elderly people never get any visits from their families and they love to talk and just get a little attention from someone. I think it's great that you want to do something meaningful. Look into these places and I know you will find the right place for you. More people should want to help the children and the elderly with just a little bit of their time. Good luck to you. One person can make a difference.

Why don't you ask the cancer patients themselves? So get your butt off that chair in front of the computer and ask your parents to drive you to a local hospital. Better yet, call the American Cancer Society. Their number is 1-800-ACS-2345. Use that computer of yours to Google the word cancer and see the world open up to you, you twit.

A lot of times, the only thing you can do is be there for them, listening more than talking. Or read to them to help them escape reality, at least for a while.

First of all, you should be very proud of yourself!! Theres not to many kids your age that even want to think about helping anybody. Good for you!! Your parents should also be proud. Ok, you can always call the American Cancer Society. I think that you would have more luck, then if you just walked into a hospital. I think that most hospitals would have rules against something like this. It wont hurt to try, but I would call the cancer society first. Good luck sweetie! We need more caring people like you!!!

First off KUDOS for being concerned at your age! I am a Girl Scout Leader and I always encourage young women to take the lead! BRAVO for you!

Do you sew? There are lots of simple projects on line for Chemo Caps for children and adults. There are also walker / wheel chair bags. Lap blankets are an awesome idea as well.

Check your local nursing home for working with older adults. If you live near a military treatment facility you can visit there, many of our Veteran's hospitals are forgotten and rarely visited.

Sarisha, a girl at my old school had cancer, so I know a whole bunch of things you could do. You could learn how to make blankets, sweaters, or anything else that would keep them warm. Then you could send it to the hospital to give to them. You could collect pop tabs, which then you can donate and make money for it. Then all the money goes to those kids. You could have another kind of sale to raise money. Even if these kids are going to die, you are going to make their last days happy. Good luck on all you do. God bless you!

How about a toy drive. The toys at the hospital must be old or few. Maybe some videos too. Or gently used toys from your friends and their siblings to deliver. Ask permission from the nurses before going and see if you could bring cupcakes, cookies, candy, etc... Your a good kid!

First I think that is great! You sound like you have a good heart and I know that God will bless you for your generosity. Go to any hospital or nursing home and I am sure that they would love for you to help them. Good Luck!
