Gosh, I am so sorry your family is going through this. It's such a helpless feeling when your child is sick. It's impossible to really know what's going on without a specialist looking at her and no doubt running some tests like ultrasounds and MRIs. I'm a nurse, not a doctor, but I can't tell you all the possibilities of different illnesses she may have. I wouldn't want to scare you unnecessarily and I don't think it's productive for you to consider ALL the what ifs. I can tell you doctors tap on the belly (like you'd see someone do in the market to check a watermelon) to get a sense as to how the organs are doing size-wise and see if there's free fluid or perhaps something growing which shouldn't be in there. Her lower left belly felt a bit different to the examining doctor. Halitosis is bad breath which may be a sign of something. I wish I could tell you. Some of these results are used to determine liver and kidney function, and her pain in her lower back could be a kidney problem. It looks like her blood sugar results (glucose and HbA1c) are a bit elevated. These tests may help a doctor decide if someone has diabetes. The low specific gravity may relate to a kidney problem. A high Sed Rate indicates inflammatory process in the body. It's too bad you have to wait so long. You may want to considering calling the specialist's office and asking to be placed on the waiting list if there's any cancellations so your daughter can be seen earlier. I am not sure why your regular doc feels she is better suited to see a Gastroenterologist versus seeing a Nephrologist (kidney specialist). Again, I'm so sorry she's sick, and I hope you can get her in sooner and the doc finds a relatively easy solution to put her back in better health.

Its just a slight fluctuation and nothing to be concerned about. The ESR rises with infection, so a high ESR would just mean that there is an infection in your body...it gives nothing more useful than that.

Mine is 13 too but it can fluctuate and be a little higher or lower than the normal range. If your doctor suspect any form of diesease such as arthritis, further blood tests would be done to see if there is anything wrong with you.

Anything over 100 is abnormal. ESR are higher when you have infections, but if its over 100 thats something serious.
