When you first turn your computer on it will say something like(usually on the bottom of the screen) "Press F2 to enter setup" It may be a different key so look for it. Press that button (it usually doesn't give much time to react so it might take a few tries). You'll go into a BIOS menu. Use the arrow keys to go to the boot tab and there should be a list. Find your CD-rom in the list and move it to the top (highlight it and I think it's F6 to move it up one). Goto the exit tab and say Exit Saving Changes. Put the CD in and turn the computer on.

Note: Make sure you back up everything you want to keep before installing Ubuntu. I'd say half the people that try to install Ubuntu (including me) have to use their windows recovery CDs to get that to boot again.

1/ press the delete key as the PC starts up. This will take you to the BIOS screen.
2/ locate the menu which contains the boot priority settings. Use the on screen instructions to navigate around, and set the cdrom drive as the first boot drive.
3/ press f10 to save settings.
4/ restart the PC with the ubuntu disk in your cd drive.
5/ Watch as the PC starts. Press any key when indicated to do so on screen.
6/ Ubuntu will now load from the cd.

During start-up, watch the screen for any indicators on how to enter your BIOS.. On older computers, it's usually the [del] key.. but each bios has it's own key..

When you do enter your bios, look for an entry that controls your boot sequence.. It might be named [first boot] or [boot sequence] just take a look and you'll see it.. lol..

anyway, just change it so that you're cd-rom boots first.. that should take care of it.. BTW, don't forget to save your settings.. Restart your PC and it should boot off the cd..

You need to enter BIOS and set the boot order with CD ROM first

Change the boot sequence in BIOS. If you are using laptop, you can try some function key like F2, F12 to load the bootup menu, depending on the laptop model.

You might need to go into your BIOS and change the boot order. Each BIOS is different and it's hard to say how to get into it and where the setting is located without knowing your computer's make and model.

After rebooting at your computer, at the first screen, there should be a key it tells you to press to choose your startup device. Usually the key is around F9 to F12, and I think on most computers these days, it's F12.
