It is scary. The irony is , by worrying about death, to the point of not eating or sleeping...you will likley die FASTER!
Take my advice please, talk to a therapist about this. YOu are not alone on this one, it is the most common human fear and has been since the dawn of man. A thereapist can guide you through it and get your head around the concept quite easily.
Then you will be happy, healthy and LIVE LONGER!!!
Seek help today and get this all put behing you love.

Been there done that! I can't remember how old I was...teen ager or close to it. It seemed I went to sleep thinking about it and woke up thinking about it...Please know that it is VERY normal to be preoccupied with it. But also know you can get relief from your fears by simply changing your thinking gradually. How about going to a library or book store and finding some books on the subject? Elizabeth Kubler Ross has some good ones, or any books on Near Death Experiences etc can be soothing...do what I do...take what info feels good to you and toss the rest! Really! I also have come to the conclusion (talking with a few folks who had died and were revived)...that they said it's like waking up in a hotel room for a second and thinking where am I? And then suddenly thinking...Oh yeah I'm on vacation and feeling wonderful and wondering why all the fuss is made about dieing....
Hope this helps.

How old are you? You shouldn't be worried about dying. Are you a Christian? If you are then you have nothing to worry about. We all die and if you believe in salvation and Heaven then you know that's where you are going to go. We are just kind of passing by when we are "alive". Anyway you shouldn't be that worried and if you aren't a Christian maybe you should try going to a church and listen to what they have to say about dying. It made me feel better and now I know where I'm going to end up when I die so it's more exciting then scary for me. Good luck. I'm sorry it's effecting your life so badly.

I have an extreme phobia of dieing as well. Although I do work full time & go to school at night it does put alot of strain on what I do because I'm afraid of dieing constantly.
You should see a pyschiatrist or a therapist of some sort. They will be able to help you at least ease your fear. Good Luck!

It actually is a VERY common thing.
Thanatophobia: The fear of death or dying.
Most people would say you need to see the Dr. to help you with this or go to therapy I wouldn't suggest this because they would expose you to your fear and just might make it more REAL.
I would say that you are more afraid of living... And this phobia shouldn't prevent you from daily activity's such as sleeping or showering. Where it isolates you.
One of the other, underlying, reasons for fear of death is the ingrained parental voices of society and religion that, indeed, we will perish in the afterlife. One needs to evaluate the realities of their spiritualism to ensure that those beliefs provide comfort and support throughout life.
I hope this helps you hunny... DON'T be afraid to LIVE!!!

It's not normal to be extremely scared of anything. I tell others what my philosophy is fear is. Fear is a reaction to any real or perceived threat. The response to fear is either fight or flight. So I ask myself two questions: Is the threat real or perceived. If the threat is real, then so is the response, fight of flight, to the fear. But if it's not, then I have to change my reaction.
Fear of death is a normal fear - if one's life is threatened. Then it's fight or flight. The problem with an irrational fear such as yours is "who do I fight and where do I flee?" See the problem? Instead of focusing on your fear of dying, which I suspect is a reaction to a panic attack rather than a fear of death itself, it would be more productive to change your reaction to the fear by focusing on your breathing and your heart rate. I admit that that's easier said than done. So I recommend that you do two things:
First, ask your doctor or your psychiatrist, if you have one, for a short term tranquilizer to lower your heart rate and respiration as a reaction to fear and that you see a psychologist to learn how to master those reactions. I've been there before and wish you luck. You may talk to me if you wish, okay?

You're so preoccupied with dying that you're not living in the here and now. Dying happens to everything and everyone. I can tell you to try to enjoy your life and contribute to society, but I think it's best that you speak with a trained counselor. Yes, you can overcome it, but it would help a great deal to seek professional help to get to the root of this fear and face it head on..

It depends... is this something that has ALWAYS bothered you? If so - it is a phobia and those are common - ex. heights, spiders, etc... If it is only recent - has something happened to trigger that? It could be some sort of post-stress trauma (I think that is what they called it), I know 9-11 freaked me out for awhile... It might help to see a counselor...

in this world of ours , there are two things you can absolutely be sure of , and they are death and taxes .
it is sad that you can think of nought much else --- and therefore you need to seek proffessional help --- because before you die --- you need to live a life to it's fullest because if you don't then your fears will be realised --- and that would be sad .
good luck

The only way to get over the problem is to understand that death is a certainty.
