Ironing a wedding dress is a bad idea for a number of reasons. The water can turn the dress yellow - depending on what kind of water you use. Your best bet is to wait until you get the dress to the hotel - then find out about the closest dry cleaner in the area. Dry cleaners have high power steamers that will get all the wrinkles out. Chances are if you're staying at a resort, they will also have a steamer that will do the trick.

The resort or hotel should have a laundry service. Have them steam it for you. Don't touch it with an iron you would hate to have an imprint of your iron on the back of the dress. Take it to a cleaners or if you purchased it at a bridal shop they normally have an alteration shop that has a steamer. It's your big day don't risk it!

You can iron some wedding gowns depending on the material. If you can tell me that, I can tell you whether or not you can iron it.
Alternatively, you can buy hand-held steamers cheaply at Wal-mart or Target to take with you. You might also call the resort or hotel and ask about one. You could also ask if they have a bridal shop anywhere around that could do it for a little money.

Butterfly Diva has already suggested this, but I saw a tip on a wedding site that said to leave your dress hanging in a steamy bathroom and the creases will fall out. Also, at your resort they SHOULD have some sort of service to help brides out with this, if they perform a number of weddings they will be well aware that dresses crease in transit and should be able to provide a steaming service. Why not email the resort in advance and ask them, at least then you will know and have the chance to make alternative arrangement

wait til you get to the hotel and hang it up in the bathroom with the doors closed and a hot water filled tub, I am sure the water will get hot enough there. just dont let your fiance see it if you are sharing a room before your wedding, or you could do it in someone elses room if other people are with you. if you are a little wary about this, call the hotel and tell them your situation and maybe they will do something for you too since you are a bride and groom. I would for sure wait til after you get there because it might just get wrinkled again on the plane.

You need to have your wedding dress steamed. I'm not sure what your fabric is, but I wouldn't trust a normal iron on your dress. It's too risky. The fabrics of many wedding dresses are very delicate, you would not want to have an accident on your wedding day.
If you are getting married at an good hotel or resort, they should have a cleaning service and should be able to do it for you.

You can get a small inexpensive steamer. hang it up somewhere high, so you can get in underneath the dress.
Otherwise I would take it to a dry cleaner that you trust.
If you dont have a regular dry cleaner that you use....go to a big name company, like Nu Yale. You dont want to go to a small mom & pop dry cleaner for an important item like your wedding dress.
Good luck and have fun!!!!!!!!!

Most bridal shops will press it for you at no charge if you bought it from them. Ot take it to a dry cleaner they can usually press it for less than $50
