Recently dumped by a guy, still really like him and he has said hes glad we can stay friends and he hated it when i had originally said i didnt want anymore to do with him. He has mentioned in emails today that we could "hook up" for old times sake in the future - i said i dont think so, its all or nothing with me - he responded by saying he understood and respected me for that. I want to get back with him (we dont live near each other and split up about 2 weeks ago - im planing to meet up with him not this weekend but weekend after just for the day "as friends"). How should I respond to the email that he respects me for that?

He wants you for nothing more than 'no strings sex' and whether you believe it or not if you keep things nice he will be more than happy to deliver.

mean what you say and leave him alone otherwise you will give off the wrong message and end up getting hurt

if u two have already split u have to let it go. otherwise u'll end up being used n hurt. Next time u'll meet him with another girl n he'll tell u that u 2 are just friends yet u still feel for him. Just keep off n move on with ur life. No need to respond the mails actually

Why would you get back to him?
He obviously does not want to go back as before.
It's true he wants to have fun with you, but like a one night stand and that's it. I think you should reply that you should both move on and forget about it.
When he said he respected you for that he didn't actually mean that. He does not respect you if he's thinking of hooking up with you but he wants to remain friends.

It is a bit tricky situation. I think what you need is time and space. If you can not handle the friendship, then you will have to give him time and space. Who know in the future things may change for you two and you get back together. With giving yourself space, you will also give yourself chance to meet other people who may be more appropriate for you. Easier said than done though.

hate to say this but a lot of people are just trying to make themselves feel better when they say to an ex they dumped 'let's be friends'
it takes a lot of work to be just friends with an ex and that's the truth...
ytou are likely just setting yourself up to be hurt by trying...

if there was a deep enough friendship beforehand to endure, it will survive the wait ubtil you are over him, before thsat stay cleare, or hang out ewith him in a group situation only!!!

sos for crap spelling it's late and can't be bothered to correct it...

If you let him know that you want him back he will use it to his advantage. Meet him as a friend, but dont make yourself appear too available. You should play it cool, as if you are just friends. When he sees how easy you've taken it and how much fun you really are, he will regret his decision. Good Luck!!
