I have to be honest, that I often fall short on that.
I have so much faith in God , that I just sit and wait on Him and know, that He knows what I have need of and He will supply my every need as He has promised in His Word.
And then I don't pray as much as I should , especially for myself, when it comes to others , I pray and intercede for them in a heartbeat.

What a friend we have in Jesus
All our sins and griefs to bear
What a privilage to carry
Everything to God in prayer
Oh, what peace we often forfeit
Oh what needless pain we bear
All because we do not carry
Everything to God in prayer.

Yes I do, as that is what He tells us to do. You just gave the scriptures that say that, and there are more.
We are to give our all to God, in obedience and in prayer. God says to tell Him our hearts desires, according of course to His will and purpose for our life. And if we are in Him, in obedience and in His protective care, He will grant us our hearts desire. There is life in words, and we are to speak life into our words, by speaking just what we want and need and believeing He will answer, and staying in positive confession about things. I am not talking about a greedy person claiming to need a rolls royce and all of that. But, God longs to meet our desires and our needs that are in line with Him, and He is not greedy at all.
If we say I want that Lord, and then say oh I will never get that, we never will. That spoke curse into the situation, as you doubted God. There is somuch about this positve confession movement. But as usual, the devil brings lies to every truth and most either wont believe this message, or he gets them to get it all wrong and they become greedy and materialistic Craziness, hey? That devil knows what he is doing to keep us from the divine will and purose of God, but if we stay in obedience to Him, the devil cant get in. Remember, no weapon formed against us will propser, if we stay IN HIM. Good news. Lets let the world know the truth.
God doesnt give us a spirit of fear, but a spirit of Hope Hope in Jesus. LEts get out the good news.
May God bless you the rest of your life , as you stand and speak truths for Him.

I ask God for what I feel I need but then know that he knows what I need, he knows what I can handle and he has my best interests in every choice and experience I have. Basically, I don't pray expecting to get everything I ask for just expecting for God to know what is best.
