Vinegar only corrodes things that are submerged in it. When you eat vinegar, it is digested and broken down chemically and by the time any nutrient reaches your bones, it is not a corrosive acid. So go ahead and eat pickles and salad dressing. It is safe!

FYI: If you soak a chicken bone in vinegar, it will leech out the calcium and make it bendable. That might be what you heard about. Another cool experiment is to put an uncooked egg in vinegar. Again, the shell is dissolved away in about 3 days and you are left with a shell-less egg. A tad off topic, but cool nonetheless!

Sounds like an Old Wives Tale to me.

If the acid in vinegar can dissolve your bones, then why wouldn't the acid in soda drinks, orange juice and other foods also dissolve your bones??
