Not all are cruel and unforgiving, but a significant number are, so that you would think that. Jesus rescues me everyday from one thing or another. He goes everywhere with me. And I believe that everything happens for a reason. Hang in there, life can change in an instant.

Short of total planetary vulcanism, or comparable destruction by nuclear idiocy, humans will be around, and "survive" for quite a while yet, approx 5 million years.

First, he needs to prove his existence.
Next, he needs to explain WHY I need rescuing in the first place, since it was also within his power to forgive without attaching any conditions to it. After all, I can forgive and forget, I'm I'm just an garden-variety human being -- how could an infinitely wiser and more compassionate being actually be LESS able to forgive others than I?

Bible says that he comes at midnight. An obvious reference to the darkest hour and not actual midnight. His coming ends the great tribulation, he meets his redeemed in the air and the wicked are destroyed by the brightness of his coming.
