what does this mean PS3 60GB jap. I am after buying a playstaion 3 off ebay. on closer expection i notice it says PS3 60GB jap. I emailed the seller and he says that it is just what it says on the box. And that his mate bought one from argos that says the same. I think it might be a japanese version........

That means it is a japanese ps3. Luckily for you these people don't know what they're talking about, you can play ps3 games from anywhere, since they don't have a region code. you will however, only be able to play ps2 games from Japan. And to the guy above me talking about the 360, lets see how you feel in a year when every single crapbox from 2006 has been shipped back to MS for repairs.

It's a NTSC J Japanese version of the console. PS3 games are region free, so you can play all of 'em games. But movies and PS, PS2 games from UK (PAL version won't run on Japanese version).
Although American and Japanese versions have great advantage over Euro version - backwards compatibility. All of PS2 games are running perfect on them, because a special processor deals with this issue. Due to cuts in costs of production this chip was removed from PAL (euro) version. Software deals with old games. It sucks.

Maybe if you havnt gotten the ps3 this wouldnt have happened...... 360 (better than PS3, tied with wii) does the same thing with the regions (look at the answers above me) but doesnt cost $600. The 2 systems focus on hard drive and thats their downfall, shouldve bought the wii (better than PS3, tied with 360) can play any game from any country.

yes its the japanese 60 Gigabyte version. You will not be able to play US games on it.
No you cannot play UK games on it. Every PS3 is built for a region (Japan, US, and Europe) and can only play games that are coded for that region.

that means it a japianese version. that means it will only play games from japan and will not play the us/uk copys of the games
