Disagree, logic is incorrect. Atheists don't deny God, they believe there is no God to deny.

I deny the flat earth theory, Spaghetti monster, Santa Claus; does that mean they exist?

I think that is another version of Anselm's ontological argument.

First of all, an atheist doesn't deny a god. He doesn't believe in a god. Hay my papaya! Denying and not believing are 2 different things.

Now can you deny the existance of a 4-sided triangle?

By the way, your teacher teaches you theology. that's a waste of money. Theology is the study of nothing.

No! You teacher should be fired, especially if s/he is supposed to be teaching theology. I assume you live in America because a bias, religious teacher would not be able to teach something like philosophy (however...). We just don't believe, if we accepted that there was something there we would not be Atheists.

I had a philosophy teacher at my old school who told me that Atheists are Ignorant and stupid because we stopped being Agnostic and accepted that there is no God. I put my hand up and said "I think that you are ignorant", i was put in detention...

Your TEACHER proposes such an illogical argument? What a mockery of the word education.

"Superman exists. If you deny him you accept that there is something to deny, therefore you accept that Supes is there and deny it"

Feel free to substitue your own fictional character for Superman.

I personally think there is nothing to deny. There would need to be proof in order to deny it - I do not acknowledge the existence of any god. How can one deny something one does not believe exists?

You're teacher obviously doesn't know their ___ from a hole in the ground.

Atheism just means LACK of belief in any gods. I fail to see how lacking a belief in something means you first have to believe in it and then deny it.

Do you not believe in the existence of Magic Puppies? Or do you deny their existence? *grins* Do you see where I am going with this?

An atheist would contend that all Catholics are in a way practicing atheism since they don't believe in any of the other 4500+ gods. An atheist just believes in one less god than a Catholic.

That silly argument also verifies that there is a flying spaghetti monster and any other fairy tale.

In fact, stating that something must be true because there are people denying it sounds like the single most stupid argument I have heard for a long time.

Your theology teacher is an idiot.

As others have said, this could apply to asbolutely any irrational claim.

Try this. Tell him you believe he is a mass murdering paedophile. He will deny it. Tell him that the fact he denies it means that there is something to deny, therefore it is true. Then have him locked up.

I would say your teaching really does not understand what atheism really is. In short atheism is the lack of beliefs in deities. His same circular logic could be applied in reverse ..... christianity really doesn't exist because christians acknowledge that atheism exists therefore by their acceptance means that chrisitianity is not real
