Hello, I gave you a star for the originality in bringing a question from one category to another to get a different point of view.
I guess all the people that ask the question and the answers know very little about their own history and that of the Second World War.
Firstly, the loosing of territories from Siam to UK and France was of the period of King Rama 5 around 1900 onwards, whereas the Second World War was 1945. That has nothing to do with each other.
The territories lost were gained from the old city state, same with what had happened in ancient Europe. Remember, 14th century Italy principalities. Again, German was the last in Europe to be unified as a country I think around 1860, Bismarck (sorry if I get the year wrong).
My view on Thai history in loosing territories is somehow good; in a way, except Chiang Khong and the part on the Myanmar side. Why? Those people are of the Thai race (Laos too for that matter). The rest I don't care. Cambodian was united into ancient Siam just thinking to be buffer. Look closely at the ancient map, Vietnam was part of the expand Kingdom too.
Why good loosing territory? The people are not Thai. The loosing itself caused King Chulalongkorn to modernise Thailand, building railway, irrigation system, and revise the governments into modern bureaucracy. Siam then was only a loose united principality with each province with its own head, like small kings within the kingdom. So, I think it is good.
Second World War, opinion in Thailand split. Seni Pramoj declared displace government and organised a resistant force in the US, while some troops were sent parachuting into Thailand to fight Japanese. The government at the time of Pibulsongkram was a dictator. Very odd ha; Japanese, Italian, and German governments were also military dictator.
Thailand neither lost nor won the Second World War. That is the fact, since the US recognise the displace government. Oddly, though Pibul Songkram has never been sentenced as war criminal. He was the father of the present Thai foreign minister.
About Thailand wants to attack Malaysia or Singapore: Frankly, that has never crossed the Thai government, nor the Thai military mind. Thai people are busying debating and fighting among themselves, and Singapore with 3.6 million or Malaysia with some 20 million people has no attraction for the Thais; none of the previous Thai administration care to take over you.
Besides, you --- Singapore and Malaysia, were among the original six that signed Bangkok Declaration to join the ASEAN organisation, within which forged tremendous friendly ties between each members.
What the hell were you thinking? Look closer at the maps of Sukhothai, Singapore and Malaysia were part of the Kingdom, too. He He..

This was similiar to a question raised last year. My answer:

This question had been asked before. My reply was that the Thais being a peace-loving nation, did not want to go to war. The Ruler then, knew the Japs were superior militarily and wanted to avoid bloodshed among his people, hence agreeing to the Japs access. This is why till now, the Thais are the only one not colonised by any others.

Then, Malaya and Singapore were under foreign rule, a superpower which is suppose to look after us, but was unable to do so. So, technically, it was not the Thai against us

Present time, the 3 countries enjoy great partnership, so talk of aggression now will be unfounded.

oh! well,i'm thai, and i never heard anything u are telling now before (if u think that i'm some kind of low educate,u are wrong. i got bachelor degree and also one certificate degree ,but i never heard the thing u are talking about your country in the WW 2 with thailand before).

so i will not jude that what u explain is the truth or only a personal opinion. there are many stories about WW 2 that never writen on any books.

i know only in WW 2 we had a big hard time.

..............................................

and one thing i'm really know and sure that malasia or your malaya is making a revenge to thailand.

there are lots of terrorist in the 3 province near the border to thailand, everybody know that.

but most of those terrorist are from malasia. when they were arrest, thai police found that they have 2 ID ,one thai ID and the other is malasian ID.

many times that those terrorist disappear at the border near malasia. when we ask for help from malasia goverment to seek for those terrorists and bring them back to thailand for punishment.

u know what happen next? there is no answer,no help from malasia goverment.

also there is a rumour that the coup leader now got some money from malasia for making a coup. i think it's sound reason 'cause the coup leader is muslim. and since he are in charge,he has coperate the conference or help lots of time with malasian government. he also let the malasia government give the advice about the problems in the 3 province in the deep south of thailand(this never happened before.)

thank u for your revenge.

if u hate thailand and thai,i can't stop u.

I see another personal attack by some irresponsible Malaysian.

The point that he is missing is that the 'Thai' guy he is targeting speaks more sense than he does.

No use arguing or trying to prove. Malaysians are bad at history and never learn from their past mistakes. Maybe this is why they suck at posting such things here.

โง่จริงๆ... เสียใจด้วย

I think these people are just a bunch of kids with nothing else better to do with their lives. They like picking on other users. Just look through their section.

It is also a foolish question on our country, race and our King. We were NEVER traitors in our history and it is truly an insult!

'Tomyam eating creatures'??? That is disgusting! This person is also comparing us to animals! How dare!
