would his disciples die for him? All his disciples died violent deaths when they could lied or stopped preaching to save their lives. what i am trying to say is thousands maybe millions have died for His namesake. i believe because i've seen things that can't be explained if He isn't who He says He is. i have seen blood stop flowing from wounds that doctors couldn't fix at the calling of His name. if this reads like an attacking question it's not meant to be. it is just an open question looking for honest explainations and opinions.

That's pretty much what I always say. People are willing to die for truth, but for a lie? Nope, that's absurd.
Not to sound nitpicky or anything, but all but one of them were martyred. They didn't execute John.

People have died for their religion all through the ages. Look at Islam today. There are fanatics blowing themselves us on a daily basis. (For those of you who are Muslims, I do realize its only a tiny minority. I am not painting your whole religion with the same brush.)
Just because the stories of Jesus and the disciples are so often repeated it does not make them true. There is no physical evidence that Jesus ever existed. Historical records of the time do not mention him. People cite Josephus Flavius, but there is doubt about the veracity of that quote. In my opinion, which I realize counts for very little, I do think there was an individual man named Jesus who existed then, but I do not think the gospels tell the true history of him. You do realize that the gospels were not eye witness accounts, but were written many years after the time they supposedly record?

People have died for liars throughout history - fanatics dying for Hitler is but one example.
Seeing things you can't explain is obviously not proof of anything except your inability to find an explanation. I love illusionists, usually I can't explain how they created the illusion, but that doesn't prove they are using magic, that they are the messengers of god etc etc.
Please throw away the quotes and THINK.

Well, George Bush said there were weapons of mass destruction in Iraq and more than 3000 of his American followers have died already.
That wasn't true.
Why would the disciples be any different?
Some people are just very very convincing. Jesus was very, very convincing and he told people a story they WANTED to hear.
Just like you. It's a story you WANT to hear. No amount of logic will ever dissuede you from believing in invisible cloud beings who care how your life turns out.

God tells us our lives are a gift from him and we are too cherish it. He doesn't expect us to die in Jesus' name. If we can preserve our lives even if we have to lie about our beliefs then it has to be done. He knows exactly what's in our hearts. He gave us life, and we have to fight to keep it. This is our one and only time on Earth. We are not obliged to be honest with our enemies.

If the nut bag in waco Texas wasn't really one of God's prophets then why did all those people fight and die for him? If that one group (I don't know their names) were not really catching a ride on a space ship why did they all die for it?
Your point is just another delusional attempt to prove something that you have no evidence for.
Nice try though

There is no limit to the things people can be persuaded to do in the name of a falsehood, and they do them because it is a falsehood, not because it is true. Falsehood encourages extreme behavior.
How many people were prepared to lay down their lives for Hitler? Does that make Hitler a great man?

People have also been instantly healed by touching a statue of Buddha--It's s Christ stated--it is their faith that healed them--similarly people with no religious idols have experienced unexplained cures--I think we underestimate the power of the mind.

It's the same for many of us. God changes us as He changed the disciples from Jesus's time. So He changes us. I can;t trust my own parents, who both freely left their children. Yet, I can trust God, whom I've never seen. If that isn't miraculous, I don't know what is!
