Like the answer above says- Oxbridge is a combined term for Oxford and Cambridge Universities in the UK, which are the traditional elite universities.

Your pal would definitely not say he had an "Oxbridge" degree if he had one. Anyone who has been to Oxford or Cambridge University is fiercely proud of which they went to as they have an intense rivalry with each other and he would definitely state which he got his degree from.

Both my parents went to Cambridge university, and I go to Oxford university, neither of which are in Minnesota!
