but on the contrary 175 cms is taken as 5.9" !! which one is correct ??...also do we use different measuring devices/units to measure human height ? KINDLY HELP asap !

5.7414 is in decimals
5 feet 9 inches is the same
1 feet has 12 inches
so .7414of a feet is 0.7414x12 inches which is 9
its like this error ....taking 0.5 hours to be 50 minutes which is actually 30 minutes

175/2.54 = 68.8976378 = 68 + (114/127) inches
1 foot = 1 inch
68/12 = 5.666666667 = 5 + 2/3 feet = 5 feet + 8 inches
175cm = 5 feet + (8 + 114/127) inches = 175/(12 * 2.54) = 5.741469816
rounded to 4 decimal places = 5.7415 feet
Since you round to the same number of significant figures as the smallest number in the origional which is 3 from 175cm you can only quote your answer to 5.74 feet

you are just confused 175 cm. is almost the same as 5 feet and 9 inches not 5.9"...so by conversion its correct using our conversion factors, 175 cm=5.7414 ft.=5 feet + 0.7414 ft.= 5 ft. + 0.7414x12=5 ft 9 inches.
