There are many options available in sales. I would recommend a local sales organization (large or small), or move a position where you would be over others who did the extensive traveling and could travel only occasionally for meetings and such.

Other positions could include indirect/direct telephone sales - including B2B (may be a lateral or downward move), Sales and Marketing Director, Pricing Analyst, etc.

The niches within one field are unbelievable sometimes and should be explored thoroughly if you don't get professional help. Some staffing agencies are very good and others a waste of time and money. I'd prefer to scale down my living style and develop other interests, not job interests, as the average person dies two years after retirement or a spouses death, probably from a lack of other inner interests and too much outer directedness. I hope that makes some sense to you. I would be interested in how most people in a similar types of work and age bracket fair in later years.

I would suggest that you apply for positions in the Product Development or Training departments of your company. You have been involved with the sales of your particular item for many years, so you know it inside and out. Your knowledge would be of great use to your product development teams as they strive to make your product better. Also, being a trainer is a wonderful opportunity for someone with your background and expertise. You've obviously been very successful in your endeavors, so when your company hires new employees, who better to show them the ropes than someone as seasoned as you. And the best thing about it is that the new employees would have to come to you. It would be a BIG error to leave your company altogether. With so much time invested (and probably a pretty decent retirement plan), you'd be taking a step backwards. Have a sit-down with your HR department about positions that might suit you within your own corporate umbrella.

You can provide consultancy services like preparing project report, feasibility study and techno-economical surveys. You open a website. There are free websites available which you can find a google search. You can also search for small enterprises who will need your services. All the best.

More than fifty percent of your Service Career, you have given to large company. You understand them and their needs. Similarly, they understand you. All you have to make them understand is your need politely and softly. I am sure if they feel impressed with your capability to do something else, equally good, if not better.
Good Luck !!
