Received a email about a Professor from Virginia emailing Dr. Laura, the talk show host about her recent comment that the Bible states clearly that homosexuality is wrong. He wrote to her asking her that since she clearly knows the Bible then how can these other Laws be kept, such as burning a sacrifice because it would upset the neighboors with the smell and other Laws of the Old Testament. I feel that we are not bound by the Old Laws since Jesus made the way for us. Then what about the 10 Commandments? Can others shed more light on this subject?

Jesus died for everybodys sins.
The bible wasnt written in one day.
Events took place, the 10 commandments
was before Jesus so people had to make sacrifices to god. Then later god sent his son to die for all sins, and it was written.
Maybe some folks just like the old testament
and not the new testament.
Maybe the world is too fast for the old testament making life really complicating.
Maybe thats why god sent his son because
the world just got more and more wicked.

First of all the Dr. Laura letter you refer to was making the rounds of the Internet over 7 years ago. Below is the link for more info including the full text of the letter. It's actually very well written and very funny.

Bottom line is that the bible is filled with thousands of contradictions and silliness like these. For that reason alone it should be taken with a grain of salt.

Although, I don't entirely believe in the Old Testament, it is included in the New testament. Christians truly believe that because the Bible is the Truth, everything in it is not up for debate.

I'm not justifying it, but that is what their faith tell them to believe.

The OT vs. NT question is a big controversy. Why did god change his mind? How many of the old laws would people really follow today?

Yeah, Christ did make changes to make it easy for the believer, but what has become today is really not Christ's teachings but that of Paul.

Paul allowed the eating of pork, and insisted circumcision unnecessary.
