This might sound like a stupid question. My ex boyfriend and i broke up like 7 months ago. That was also the last time we spoke. Out of anger, i vowed that if i ever talked to him again i would not be catholic again. I used my religion as a stake because i love jesus and i really am proud of being catholic. Now, 7 months on, i do not feel the same hate and anger towards him, honestly, i missed him alot as a friend. He was the only guy in the world i could turn to other than my family for help in everything. But he just was the worst boyfriend material. He fell in love with another girl there and told me about it. Firstly i want to know how do i know that i am ready to accept that if he has a girlfriend, still, my heart will nt break when i know about it. Secondly, will i still be catholic???

*Is Catholic*

God doesn't hold people to rash oaths. Rash oaths turn into tools of the devil as the devil will use them to make the individual doubt their faith EXACTLY AS YOU ARE NOW.

What God wants you to do, though, is to confess that you made a rash oath at your next confession. Then this will be all over with and you can talk to this boy or not as you see fit.

As for your first part, nobody is ever really ready to accept that a past love has moved on. The thing is to know that you cannot make people be with you or love you. What you can do is to let people go where they wish to go. Remember also if you are fixated on something that you cannot have, such as an ex-, then you will not be able to see your future boyfriend when he comes along.

Christ be with you.

This is a typical defense mechanism used in a time of self crisis. Today, if I was diagnosed with cancer and had six months to live your staged to go in crisis mode. I will go to church every Sunday and twice on Easter. Promises to our father The Lord Jesus Christ are and escape from truth and should be confessed. I'm sure your an astute Catholic and can say Father bless me for my sins as it's been um, well, awhile since I've been to confession. (whilst a youngster 2 weeks was norm) knowing that when I've lied came into play I was absolved. The religion that you have been observing and baptized into does not forget you as long as you don't renounce it. YES your still cathlosized and will be until renunciation. Better guy's will walk with you hand in hand, just as you believe.

Firstly, Don't worry - you are still a Catholic. God does not take vows made in haste seriously. You can talk to your ex and still be Catholic.

If your ex has moved on and has a new girlfriend, you will have to move on as well. I think you know this. In time, you will get over him - but only if you choose to let him go.

Yes, you will be still Catholic.

You were wrong to make a vow like that.

Admit your mistake to God, say you are sorry, and go on with your life.

Sorry, but I am not wise enough to know how you know that you are ready to accept that he has a girlfriend.

With love in Christ.

God still love you and yes you are still a Catholic.
on that note, i suggest going to confession about this, just
