If you mean you, rather than me, you should've phrased the question that way. Meanwhile, wet hair stretches. You could keep your scalp damp/wet for the next week or so while it grows a fraction of an inch. That seems the only logical alternative to taking the braids out.

That is why hair shouldn't be tightly braided while it's wet. It stresses the hair and the roots as it dries.

defiantly keep them wet, I've never had my hair braided like you are talking about, but just regular braids that are tight hurt like heck, just spray them with water and hope they loosen : \

stick your finger in some petrollium jelly and rub between each braid I know they must be hurting you

Hopefully, it doesn't last long... Usually, stores have some kind of spray you can use (anti-itch spray or something to that effect) that will relieve the pain until they loosen up.
