You're right. God said He would not create another world.
So if there was life elsewhere, it would show that either...
A: God is real, but the people who wrote it lied
or
B: God is not real....
I fear the day we find life elsewhere, I am afraid I would go insane, probably kill myself...why else should I live if it weren't because I would go to heaven?
Just a waste of time...

If you take the position that the whole of God is greater than the presented God we can comprehend, which I think is a pretty rational assumption about a/the being who created the universe from nothing, then maybe the God we are shown created us in this image, but he presents a different God and image for other beings he created for a different role.
Or, a simpler explanation could be that "image" refers to the perception of ourselves as the most capable or beautiful being in our world - a 30 armed alien would look perfectly human and beautiful to another 30 armed alien. I mean, if we really stop to think about it, we don't see ourselves as we really are at all.

If aliens have self-consciousness and a level of intelligence at least similar to those of people, then yes, I would say that they were created in God's image, even if they don't look like humans. God (at least God the Father and God the Holy Spirit) do not have human bodies, after all, and it is possible that God the Son came to those alien peoples as well in their image.
I don't see this as throwing a wrench in the idea that humans are God's special creatures. Humans are God's special creatures from Earth: some alien species could be God's special creatures from some other planet. And of course, all special creatures are equally special :-)

God created the heavens and the earth. So since we believe that, why wouldn't we believe He created them. I am sorry maybe all Christians don't believe that. So I am sorry if I included those who don't. No It wouldn't throw a wrench in the special creature idea. Don't you have more than one special person in your life?

How come people tend to think we're God's creatures, that's the real question I ask myself...Just look at all the injustices which even as I write permeate this unfortunate planet...How can a God allow such things like war, genocide, hunger and all those diseases to be ?!

I have trouble with the whole, 'created in his image' thing. How literal is that? I mean, he had feet before he created the Earth. He had teeth even though there was nothing to eat. Had eyes before there was light. A reproductive system with no goddESS to mate with.
I'm confused.

It is the height of human arrogance to assume that the entire vast universe was "created" just for us. It is also arogant to assume that such life would look or think anything like a human.

There is not likely a god.
If an alien species emerged on another planet (probability favors it), then it probably arose by natural processes.
