My cockatiel is the same age and had her wings clipped once before and i hatted it, so did she. Now i am tottaly aganist wing clipping. Their are so many other ways that your bird can have a good time out of the cage.

1] Make them trust you so they will fly to you or the cage.

2] Open windows or fans [i have both in my room but my cockatiel wont go near them so be carefull]

3] Thats it. Most cockatiel know that some things are bad and not to go near them. And if she does fall or fly into something just scoop her touch the wings and inspect her. Put her in the cage for a little while and take her out again.

Oh and dont take her in a empty room, they need things like desk, beds, tv sets, etc to land on and look at.

DONT WORRY!!!,

Bird proof the room you are allowing her in and always supervise her when she is out of her cage.
Cover any mirrors and windows, make sure there are no small cracks she would fall in or any open vessels of water or fragile things that could topple over if she landed on them.

Best thing to do is take her to a vet to get her wings clipped. This will help prevent her flying into things and injuring herself and also stop her from flying out the door.

It shouldn't be a problem if you finger train her or train her to land on your shoulder when you call. this takes patience.

Tell her a command that you can have her/him learn, like a whistle. After you put her on your shoulder, give her a piece of a treat or favorite food. Use the command or whistle when you take her out of the cage and put her on your shoulder.

If you are worried about her flying into something, it will take practice for her to learn where she can land and be safe. Or you can get her wings clipped so she can't fly at all!
Example, Say, come or shoulder and give her a treat. Tell her good bird and scratch behind her head.

Get your birds wings clipped. This will make it safe for your bird to be out of the cage. It will also make you more comfortable with allowing your bird out of the cage. Birds should not be in a cage 24/7.

I have a playpen for mine. A bit extravagant I know but they love it. Make sure there is a ladder from the floor though so if they fall off they can get back up too the water. t

take her into an almost empt room where theres no sharp objets and trust me you would not want to turn on the fan while it is flying around. or on the other side you can get it cliped so it cant fly.
