He's about 13-14 weeks old. He eats half dry kitten food, and half wet kitten food. How long do I feed him the kitten stuff?

Cats do need to be fed kitten food until a year old then switched gradually to an adult cat food. Be sure to read the ingredients though. The first ingredient should be meat. It should be a type of meat meal and not byproduct and the way it is preserved is crucial. Many pet food companies preserve the food with chemicals that cause cancer! Look for a brand that is naturally preserved with vitamin E.
Good Luck!

P.S. I know the link is about dog food nutrition, but it applies to cat food as well.

I feed my kitten who is 3 months old 3 times a day twice with one tablespoon of wet food and then in the afternoon she gets a two tablespoons of kitten (cat milk). When she is 5 months old Ill feed her twice a day and only use the catmilk as a treat and Ill prolly feed her kitten food till shes at least a year old.

This is what Ive done with most of my cats and they never had any weight issues. But this also depends on how much excersice you give your kitty. Playing with him and taking him for walks can be very helpful to his wellbeing as well as his weight :)

Try to avoid giving too much wet food. Use that as a periodic treat rather than for meals. Kittens normally would be on kitten food until they are about 1 year, however I found that switching them over between 8-9 months if they are completely indoors is better. Indoor cats tend to put on weight particularly if they have been spayed or neutered. This will help keep them at a healthy weight. Kitten food is much higher in fat and proteins thus the reason for weight gain. My vet agreed with me on switching them early but if you're unsure check with your vet.

Kittens should eat kitten food until they are 1 year old. Then you will want to mix the kitten chow with adult cat chow and slowly work up to only adult cat chow.

Until he's around a year old. Then I would suggest switching him to a urinary health formula,as so many male cats are prone to bladder stones. Purina ONE has a good Urinary Health Formula. Good luck with your kitty.
