I've thought this for years and every year I believe it more. It may not be as scripted as WWE but all the debris cautions lately really fuel the fire. Oh and it really doesn't matter who works for NASCAR or a NASCAR race team, not everyone is privy to what is really going on. Hope I'm wrong but it looks more and more like it everyday.

Is nascar taking over car racing?!? Hell no! Nascar is just the most popular motorsport here in the US. But taking over car racing.... no way. F1 still dominates outside the US. I don't think Nascar would ever try to take over rally racing here in the us like FIA did overseas. I don't see nascar getting involved in drag racing. Open wheel racing still has a presence and I don't see nascar getting involved there either. Plus, nascar recently shut down many of its low level feeder series within the last few years, like the Nascar Remax Challenge Series (no its not arca I'm talking about). I don't even see nascar having a huge involvment in dirt. Some of the drivers have involvment in dirt... many of them have dirt racing backgrounds. Right now nascar seems to want to establish itself outside the US. In doing so, they seem content to concentrate on their series' here that are established. All other focus seems to be on getting a foriegn fanbase.

OK, NASCAR made the #24 and #48 sit for practice and qualifying, but with Jeff finishing seventh, that’s not much of a penalty.
Then Tuesday NASCAR hands down the fine of $100,000, six- week crew chief suspension, big deal they can stay home and get ready for the chase and 100 driver and owner points to both teams. On paper this looks good; they got the same penalty as the #8 crew did for the bolt infraction at Darlington. Let’s go deeper into this one, shall we?
First, we have the actual infraction. Tony Eury Jr. and Dale Jr. both stated that their infraction was an accident, that parts from an earlier version of the COT were accidentally put on their car.
Compare that to statements made by Hendrick Motorsports officials that the modifications to the front fender were done deliberately to push the envelope of what they could do with the COT. This is despite the fact that every team was required to go to NASCAR’s R&D center in January and told not to mess with the COT.
Second, so they sent Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson to the back of the pack, big deal. Jeff is probably one of the best road racers in the history of NASCAR. All he and Jimmie needed was less than half the race to start running in the top 10. So they didn’t get the pit they wanted, no real loss there.
Third, the 100-point fine. Jeff Gordon netted 146 points for finishing seventh.
They took 100 points away, but he still earned 46 points. He earned points despite the fact that his team admitted to cheating. He’s still in first place and could still afford to not start a race or two and still qualify for the playoffs.
Jimmie Johnson netted 117 points, including five bonus points, for finishing 17th. Take away his hundred points and he has 17 points earned at Sonoma. He dropped to fifth in the points, but is still sitting pretty to defend his title.
Now, add 100 points to Dale Jr. and he moves all the way up to 10th from his present 12th position. Take it one step further and add 100 points to Kurt Busch’s total and you get 1,744 points for Busch. That moves him from his present position of 16th to 13th and knocking on the door of the playoffs. Junior and Busch were hurt by 100 point deductions; this is not the case with Jeff or Jimmie.
On top of that, Jimmie and Jeff get to keep their 40 extra bonus points they get for winning four races each. If the Chase were to start today, they would each have a minimum of a 30-point edge over six of their other competitors.
Nice. Get caught cheating, admit to it, still come out smelling like a rose.
Finally, there’s the money. A hundred thousand dollars is a bunch of money to most of the people I know. However, this money is less than what Jimmie and Jeff each earned for their finishes this past weekend. Plus, these drivers are worth millions anyway; $100,000 to them is like us buying a pizza. Not only that, but the money goes to the points fund at the end of the season, to be divided up among the top 20 teams in NASCAR. The situation has happened, with Kurt Busch’s title year, where a driver ends up making more money from the distribution than they paid into it. It’s like getting a refund on your taxes. NASCAR should follow the lead of the NFL and make the driver’s pay the money towards a charity like Victory Junction Gang or something else. Instead they pad their own pockets.

In a sense yes they are.
But there is still a portion of the sport NASCAR can not controll.
The "theatrics" of WWE can not safely be duplicated in racing. So no NASCAR is not taking over racing as WWE did wrestling.

Any "fan" who thinks NASCAR is fixed or plays favourites is ingorant and not a real fan. It seems as if you ahve no trust. If you have no trust why continue to watch?
