I want to dye my hair black but i keep it on the short side, i get it cut every 2-3 weeks, so is it worth it to dye it because by the time i get it cut won't it have grown out enough that all the black would be cut off?!?!?

The other thing, and i know this is a stupid question but i need someone to answer it, hair dye doesn't permanantly change your hair color right?!? your natural color grows back in eventually right?!?!?

Yes, your natural hair color will grow back in and you'll have to get touch ups. I reccommend strongly that you invest in a professional, in-salon dye job and make sure you take good care of it -- black is the *worst* color to do at home because it often comes out cheap-looking, especially if you don't know how to properly maintain the color.

Hair grows on average a half an inch a month. So, unless your hair is only a half an inch long, the dye job should last you 2-3 hair cuts. You could prolong that by doing "root touch ups" in between hair cuts. You can get those kits at any drug store along with some pretty inexpensive black hair dye. :)

In regards to your other question, no, hair color doesn't permanently change the color of your hair..even if it says permanent on the box. It only colors what is on top of the scalp. Any new growth will be your natural color. If only that were the case though, I'd know a lot of people who could save a lot of money at the hair salon! :)

Having your hair cut that often means you won't have black hair all that long. But you re-touch the regrowth each month to keep the same color. If you like it, go for it, hair does grow 1/2" per month, so if you don't like, it'll be gone soon. No, even though hair tint (dye is only for fabric) is referred to as "permanent" it doesn't affect anything under the scalp. Just the hair above the scalp is colored.

Black dye is easy to touch up roots, so go for it. It would grow out soon if you keep your hair short.

And yes. Your hair will grow, and the black will stay on the old hair. (eventually growing out)

i would buy hair dye at a drug store and do it yourself - it's cheaper. and yes your natural hair color does grow in and if you have short hair then it should grow in pretty fast. so if you really want to dye it black then go for it!
