Here is a question for you bible believers. All of the apostles wrote a gospel about Jesus, yet when the bible was compiled much was left out. They were probably left out by monks who thought no one would believe the stories from them. Would you?

For example, In the Gospel of Thomas, he tells about Jesus as a child. Some of the stories were about Jesus transforming his playmates into goats, or turning mud into sparrows, or he would help his dad out with his carpentry by lengthening a piece of wood.

Perhaps if the complete gospels were left in the bible would not be taken so literally.

The Bible was edited for content to push a certain agenda. The Christians of Rome (not yet Roman Catholics) decided that for the religious movement to survive it needed centralized leadership and a coherent doctrine. Councils of Bishops met and debated which books should be in and which should be left out. They started out with good intentions to solidify the faith but as we all know "THE ROAD TO HELL IS PAVED WITH GOOD INTENTIONS"
IMVHO if the Apocrypha, Dead Sea Scrolls and Nag Hammadi library along with the truly lost books had been included or at least preserved (as they may just be deep in the Vatican library) the bible would be a much more balanced and interesting read. Rather than create contradictions and open questions the complete, full, unabridged, and unedited Bible would clear up most of them.

Um...I have a copy of the Gospel of Thomas...and it is not as you have described. It is mostly a collection of random quotes ascribed to Jesus from various points in His ministry. It was left out due to the blatant lack of context for these quotes.

Many authors contributed to a large volume of material in the first centuries after Christ, and many of them called their works "Gospels". The majority of them were examined to see if the should be included in the official canon of the Holy Bible, and most didn't pass. A crucial test involves proving unity on some level with something in the Old Testament. All of the four Gospels we have today demonstrate how Jesus fulfilled OT prophecy while He was here. Another test involved examining the writings for spiritual meaning. Anything that did not seem to have value for it's spiritual teachings was rejected.

There were other criteria I have not discussed, but suffice it to say that the Bible isn't a random collection of books just thrown together. The rejected writings which did not make it into the Bible weren't left out because they were "unbelievable"...if that were the case Matthew's gospel (which describes the virgin birth of Jesus) would be left out, along with the rest of the gospels since they all describe the miracles of Jesus (including His resurrection!).

Hope this information helps!

Jesus did not practice such things, Thomas met Jesus later in Life that is a gnostic gospel written 400 years after the fact unlike the other Gospels written with 100 years after the fact, most 20- 30 years after.

Christ was perfect and did not do any of the things that your "Gospel of Thomas" described. Had he done so, that would have been a misuse of his powers and he would no longer be perfect, yet he died still perfect. You think Bible believers are gullible, yet you believe in the so-called Gospel of Thomas?? And you stated that the complete gospels should have been included in the BIble, so you must therefore also believe the gospels did exist. Are you sure in what you think you believe or don't believe?

Here we go again with more of Dan Brown's gift to the world...

Those stories aren't necessarilly true. I've read a couple them, and they seem a little unlike Jesus to me.

Besides, do you really think someone could make mud birds fly away without being taken away to some king or jail? If Jesus really did do stuff like that, he wouldn't have been rejected by Israel.

There is no "left out" parts of the Bible. Any "missing parts" are just man's words, a clear danger mentioned in Revelation. The canonicity of the Bible (which books belong) was determined by God Himself. Jesus Himself authorized the canonicity of the Scriptures. What you see in the Bible is what has been authorized by God & is the very Word of God. Anything else is man trying to twist the Holy Word of God.

Now I can see why the Gospel of Thomas was left out! Jesus did not recieve 'powers' until he was baptized, when the Holy Spirit came to him.

A council decided what was to be kept in and out many years after "jesus" died.

It is all really political.

So, dont let it get to you.

Pick up a book on String theory,, it is so cool.
You will love it, and it is so relative to today and energy exchange.

String theory is like the MENSA version of The Secret.
