Can Indian police Change their behavior. Example- Today, 06/27/07 I was watching Indian news channel and one news surprise me that, in Bombay, a goon had raped a disable girl. The neighbors didn't help that girl and the rapist run away. I also saw, people were just standing there and it look like that they were watching juggler show. Police were taking lightly the whole matter. I am living in the united states, and the people always talk India is growing very fast. But, I think it is useless, where people are not safe. when will that time come, when cops will do their work, in all over the India? When they will be on time at the incident spot?

Crime & criminals are every where in the world, I do also get upset whenever such crime happening & the total failure of the law enforcement machinery of the state government. It hurts more when public in general enjoy all such crimes as piece of entertainment show. These things only show the lack of legal & ethical awareness amongst the public in general & law enforcing bodies in particular. What really hurts more when the press & media just show such happenings openly as an entertainment show or daily soap. The press & media rather do anything in the direction of actual law enforcement or awareness they just do it for the sake of their own TRP ratting. Now we cant expect that when ever such thing happens any where in the country the High Court of the state or the Supreme court of India will come out & start its investigation after all they are already burdened with lots of litigations pending before them, the law enforcing machinery of the state government is responsible for it, if the subordinate staff of this machinery fails to step in then the superior staff is present to order its proper investigation & prosecution. No doubt the fact India is growing fast & such stray incidence do happen here but that doesn't mean that there is total failure of law & order in the country, if that was so we would not be communicating with you in our spare time rather running around saving our lives. As far the goons are concerned they are all part & parcel of the political system we have in our country, without sparing any political party I can say these are all sponsored by these political parties for their political gains during election time for which they ignore their activities when they are in power, this reality no one can deny. So if you want a clean India first thing is to clean all these politicians or clean the society from them.

I accept everthing u said ,yes its really happening in India .But It's not the case everywhere ,there are places where police does well.Especially in Kerala where I was there for more than 10yrs .There the Police is doing a good job .It's all coz of a good government .I think the problem u mentioned will continue in other states till they have a better govrnment or a better Chief minister .

As long as the police department is treated as the handmaid of the politicians, the common people can never expect any protection from the police. We cannot blame the police entirely for such state of affairs. Just for their survival, they become the slaves of the corrupt politicians. Our people have lost courage to challenge the illegal and extra constitutional policies enforced by the authorities.

India is as safe or unafe as any other developing country. As for comparisons with the U.S.A; We dont have school students gunning down teachers and students . Neither do we have motorists ready to pull out a gun and shoot for small traffic related perceived insults.
India has a long way to go but we ar surely making steady progress
