I worked for a seasonal tax company as a branch manager for 6months. It was my first year I also worked as a tax preparer. 15 days before my branch was closing I got call from headquarters and they informed me the bank deposit and the accounts are not matching. On investigation they found I was supposed to deposit money every day instead of lump some of two days or so they never provide me any training on that. After three months of season is over they are telling me that cash is missing so they cannot rehire me How do I know we had four receptionist I tried to match balance as much as I could I was not given any training on that .I am so pissed when they informed me. I have not even taken a penny why me they did no investigation just because I am a manager I am asked to leave. They asked me I did not take any corrective measures against anyone but I was not informed that cash is missing until now when office is closed over three months.
Please advice what should I do.

I Don’t think I want to work for this company anyways as they did not do any investigation whether training was given to me or not ,They already fire my boss in the last days of tax season for no reason known. So its not coming from my boss. I was not informed till the last minute that it was not balancing, the account sheets are complicated at least they should have provided training on it , No back ground check was done on any of the receptionist who were taking care of every day cash . In order to cover their own butt they simply told me that they are not rehiring me. I want to add here I did not go to see them to rehire me ,I am not their current employee they called me to set up time to meet them in person. Is this how company’s work here even after job is over you don’t ask for job they still call you and tell you their decision. why? I am very disappointed and sad, after all the hard work this company did not pay my salary as promised they still owe me my training period salary

I worked as a manger but I did taxes for the people for which I never got paid as it was not my job responsibility but was supposed to do as we were under staff. Moreover company hired people from some hiring agency who knows how to file taxes but they do not have licenses. so they were using managers social security. I complained against it as I told them if they are working under our license if they do mistake I maybe liable as I sign all the documents after they print the tax return. This is my first year with this company but believe me I am so scared after all this I am not sure what are my options and how I cover my own butt even for future. please advice.

talk to an attorney, get some advice from one, they could be nasty and accuse you of embezlement, not to mention it does go on your records for when you want to get a new job and they ask for references...so talk to a lawyer, one who does business law.

If it's any consolation, you're better off out of there. Sure doesn't sound like a company I'd want to work for. They put you in charge but didn't train you properly, so you had no real way of knowing what you were supposed to be doing.

As long as they aren't trying to blame you for taking the missing money, chalk it up to experience and move on. Not much else you can do at this point.

Good luck..
