Take your baby to the doctor's office, so he can exam his throat, ears and stomach. Fever is a sign that something is wrong. Most of the times it will be a virus and your baby will be fine and smiling in a few days, but it might be an infection. There's nothing you can do at home, take the baby to the doctor first and he'll tell you what to do. If the baby has a fever during the night and it gets high don't wait until it's morning, go to the ER immediately. HIGH FEVERS ARE DANGEROUS TO BABIES. Good luck with your little one. I've been through this so many times with my 3 kids, I know how you feel!

99.9-100.3 isn't a very high temperature. I would suggest to relax and keep a close eye on him, comfort him as best you can and as long as he doesn't get dehydrated he should be fine. If its a virus it should pass, but teething can also cause these signs, my daughters would occasionally get a low grade fever like your son has and it is always a hassle getting them to eat. If I would try to give them a bottle, they would just chew on the nipple and if I tried to spoon feed them they would just fuss. Just continue offering him bottles andn food at the same times as you usually do and if hes anything like my girls when he gets hungry enough he'll eat just enough to take the edge off. Just make sure it doesn't go on for more than a couple of days and make sure he stays hydrated. If it is teething, try getting a straw and having him drink water or formula/breastmilk out of that, he won't be able to use it like and adult, so just put the straw into the liquid, put a finger over the end thats at top and put the bottom end into his mouth, let go of the top in little short taps so that you don't get to much in his mouth at once otherwise he may choke or gag a little. Thats whats worked best for me and my girls. If you're really worried, it never hurts to call his doctor, over all trust your instincts, they're usually right! My pediatrician said that they don't like to eat when they're teething because the nipples and spoons can cause uncomfortable pressure/pain. If you haven't done so yet you can try infant Tylenol, call the doctor or a pharmicist for the amount to give him if you don't know already, it should help reduce the fever and teething pain.

If he is teething i used to wet a rag and keep it in the freezer (very messy but they loved it). I also allowed them to gnaw on cold celery (just watch for strings) as it has a natural pain killer in it that will help with the gum pain (beats the heck out of ora-gel and is much less costly). As long as the fever isn't high, tummy stays soft and is otherwise happy I wouldn't worry too much. Your doing great. Hang in there!!
