Please explain your theory that addresses the end of the world.
I know the term Rapture and the 2nd Coming , please explain it for me, I am not clear on it. I just know bits and pieces.
I have heard of the term Mehdi(spelling??) that Shiites believe in but what is it Is it unique only to Shi'ites ? Do Sunnis have any beliefs similar to it? Please explain the concept of it.
I am comparing and contrasting Christian and Muslim 'end of times' beliefs. Please help me out
Thank you. : ) !

Pwwat,
Trust me I am not obsessed. I don't believe we should be putting all our human energy into the end of times hoopla. I do want to know what others believe. I live in the bible belt so it is helpful to know. Also since we are neck high in crap in the middle east thanks to bush and co. it would be benifical to understand others beliefs. Hence my question...

Oh you're comparing. I was WONDERING why you had all of those very different religions and denominations in the same question! LOL
I don't know the answers to your questions, but will be interested to see what they are. I'm Jewish so better to let those you asked, answer.

According to the Bible, world events combined with the behavior and traits of people prove that we are living in the last days and that God’s Kingdom will soon bring everlasting blessings to those who love God.
Matthew chapter 24 and Luke chapter 21 outline some of the world events that would indicate we are in the last days.(earthquakes, pestilence, wars...)
2 Timothy 3:1-5 discusses what the people would be like .
(lovers of money, self assuming, haughty, fierce...)
Matthew 24:14 talks about a preaching work that would take place in all the inhabited earth, and then the end would come.
(over six million Jehovah's Witnesses preach in 235 lands and in over 400 languages.)
When it is God’s time(no one knows the day or the hour) he will eliminate all wickedness on earth. “Then there will be great tribulation such as has not occurred since the world’s beginning until now, no, nor will occur again.”—Matthew 24:21. The climax of the “great tribulation” will be God’s war of Armageddon. Satan and his demons will be cast into an abyss, where they will no longer be able to mislead the nations. (Revelation 20:1-3)
Those who ignore the evidence that we are living in the last days will be caught off guard when the end comes. (Matthew 24:37-39; 1Â Thessalonians 5:2)
The Bible shows that those who want God’s rule will be protected and will survive. Those who do not want God’s rule will not be protected but will be destroyed along with Satan’s world.(Proverbs 2:21, 22; Psalm 37:10, 11 ,29,34.37,38).

The entire population of Christains will "disapear" from the earth leaving many dead for those who where driving. This kills off 1/4 of the earths population.
Then there will be a great famine, and drought. This won't kill many. Then there will rain fire, hail and rain from the heavens. This will kill 1/10 of the rest of te earth's population.
Then there will be a great earthquake throughout the entire earth! This will be the largest earthquake ever! It will also kill off 1/4 of the eaths population. This will remain a little less than half of the earth population.
The a great ruler will rule the earth, and divide the earth into 10 Kingdoms. He won't be known as God Yet. Then the Great ruler will get killed by a gunshot/sword wound, and he will rise 3 later, and say "I am God", and those who run from him after he rises from the dead will die by lightnigh from heaven.
Then he will say to all man-kind, I am God, and this will be another religeon. Soon there will be a law that if you don't worship the Anti-Christ, you will be be-headed. To show you are an Anti-Christ beleiver, you will have a number tatood on your forehead or right hand. This containing a number to show where you live in the 10 Kingdoms.
Now all Christains must hide from the Anti-Christ, but if you take the mark, you are eternally damned to hell, no matter what.
Then comes the great battle of Armageddon, whick many Christains and many Anti-Christains will die. The remaining population will most likely make it to the Glorious Appearing 3 Days after Armageddon.
In three days, Jesus will come down on a white horse and then he will open the pits of hell and damn those with the mark.
There will be heaven on earth for 1000years, and then God will begin anew earth 1000years later where God will rule and Satan will die, this all takes place in a course of 7 years.

whew! I took ten years to answer this for myself and it was painful! pre - post - mid tribulation rapture, 1000 year reign on earth Jesus cosmic elevator, Jerusalem rebuilt.
Bottom line? I believe Jesus will come as a theif in the night, no warning, the end will come and bang that will be it. Then judgement and heaven or hell and a new heavens and a new earth. No literal 144,000 saved that is merely the presentation of a number which signifies completeness
12 x 12 x 1000.
In the end it doesn't matter a hoot. My father told me when I was all perplexed about the bar codes being 666 (they seem to be) that it did not matter as we all die and the day we die is the end of our world. We then go into non time or rather we leave time and our spirit goes back to God. The Mahdi is considered to be the Christ by some and the anti Christ by others. The subject matter you bring up is so vast you could spend years researching it too. However Jesus says no one knows when He will return including Him at that time. Meanwhile live life to the full and love your neighbor who will be the person you are talking to at the time. Study it by all means but don't let it become an obsession as some have.

I'm christian. Rapture is when Jesus comes for His own (true christians), and takes them to heaven. For those who have already died and spirits are already in heaven, Jesus reunites their bodies with their spirits. We do get new resurrected bodies. Those left behind, will suffer great judgments on earth for 7 yrs, called the Tribulation period. The antichrist will be the world political leader and the false prophet will be the world religious leader who has the people worship the image of the beast (the antichrist), by taking the # of the beast = 666. If you do, you will be a follower of the antichrist and will end up in the lake of eternal fire. If you do not take the #, you'll most likely die for your faith in Christ. After 7 yrs of judgments on earth, Jesus returns for all to see. Everyone will bow to Him and proclaim He is Christ. Jesus rids this earth of evil and ushers in His 1000 yr Kingdom on this renewed earth. This is from the Word of God. God bless you

I believe that what people believe doesn't matter.
Jesus is going to do it His way, anyhow.
And that's what I believe.
