Does he like having people tell him how great he is because of low self esteem?
Maybe god just needs a hug... he's sensitive you know. sending the non-believers to hell is work that you never really get thanks for.

Oh - And if he knows everything, wouldn't he already know how highly you think of him?

If God were human He would be full of Himself. But He is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. He DESERVES our praise. It is hard to comprehend because no human deserves adoration. But our Creator does. We give Him what He is due. You know, it is funny, Satan thought the same thing as you. "How come God gets all the glory?" This answer probably fails to satisfiy you because in your core, you still doubt that anyone could actually deserve worship.

I've wondered that myself. What sort of being would create an entire race with the sole of purpose of worshiping him.
If god existed he would obviously be very insecure and attention seeking

The issue is, do we really want to take on God? I mean, have we created heavens and earth, and created humans and animals? Did we set the stars in the sky? Did we create gravity and light speed and centrifigal force?
We should be like puppies, laying on our backs in complete give-up mode. God is slightly more powerful than we are! I will not question him.
One thing many may not understand is that when we praise God we are filled with the Holy Spirit and great, awesome things happen to us. We are filled with joy beyond any words and power and strength as the spirit of God fills us. We were born to be holy temples of God.
Praising God beats sex, it beats human love, it beats all things created and all things on earth. Try it, YOU'LL LIKE IT!

Praise as man interprets it does not enhance God in any way. It is man's concept of what makes him feel good and superior must make God's life worthwhile. To the best of understanding I can come to at this stage of my life, praise would mean learning beyond what our natural minds tell us and using that knowledge to enhance planet earth life - loving without condition and not judging in our natural minds. We send ourselves to wherever we go after we die - God gave us this power by allowing us to make choices. That is what I believe.

yeah... things get a little tricky when you get into "all knowing" and "all seeing"... (you don't even touch on predetermination, which is a weird mine field of it's own)
since God seems to take actions and have concerns and jealousy... and some would even say he "evolves" through the books...
ONE could possibly make an argument that God isn't "all knowing" and "all seeing"... but is a being still far beyond our comprehension...
and that would explain his changes and actions better...
of course, that's just talk...

To praise and worship him is to show our love of him.
There is no need for a condescending question though.
