Most Christians are not educated to think- they are educated to believe the few chosen things that their church leaders pick and choose from the poorly translated scriptures that are unoffensive to their fore fathers beliefs.
So,, honestly-- because they don't know the teaching's of Jesus from a Lifetime after school special's definition of lesbianism.
or more accurately perhaps
They wouldn't know Jesus if he came into their billy graham service and flipped over the table selling the "WWJD" merchandise crap.

because during the second century a group of early christian priests decided followers of Jesus would......all have conformity of thought and action....seems a bit foolish no? Jesus was anything but a conformist of thought.

Good question.
I think it is human nature to revere someone and try to stick to a set of laws rather than live like the revered person did.
I would rather live like Jesus than live by a set of rules.
